Two Saturday games in Scottish League 2 have followed Friday's Scottish Championship match between Airdrieonians and Falkirk in being postponed because of a frozen pitch.

The Spartans' visit to Elgin City and Peterhead's home game against Stranraer were called off after Saturday morning pitch inspections.

An 11:00 GMT pitch inspection is planned at Stenhousemuir, where Annan Athletic are the visitors in League 1.

On Friday, referee Iain Sneddon conducted a 17:30 GMT pitch inspection before the scheduled 19:30 kick-off, with the match due to be shown live on BBC Scotland, and deemed conditions to be unsafe at Albert Bartlett Stadium.

Details of the rearranged fixture have yet to be announced.

Sneddon told BBC Scotland: "From quite early on, it was very clear there was a lot of packed ice under the surface. Player safety was the key criteria I was looking at.

"Although the ball can roll, I was very worried about player safety because that ground is really hard. It's clear with the temperature and forecast that the ice isn't going anywhere."

Livingston and Ayr United now have an opportunity to move closer to league-leaders Falkirk on Saturday, when they take on Queen's Park and Raith Rovers, respectively.

Second-placed Livingston are six points behind Falkirk, while Ayr are a point further back in third.

Airdrieonians are 10 points adrift of Dunfermline Athletic at the foot of the table, with the second-bottom side visiting Partick Thistle.
