With the help of the Opta supercomputer, we provide our UEFA Women’s Champions League match predictions across Matchday 2 in 2026-27.
It was goals galore for Lyon and Barcelona on Matchday 1 against Servette and Paris FC, respectively, whilst over in London, both Arsenal and Chelsea squeezed past their opponents with narrow 1-0 victories.
Meanwhile, reigning WSL champions Manchester City, came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against Bayern Munich City becoming the first English side to avoid defeat at Bayern Munich in the UWCL.
The next round of fixtures promises even more entertainment.
The blockbuster match of the week sees Chelsea travel to eight-time winners Lyon; Sonia Bompastor is set to make a return to her old stomping ground hoping to take all three points back to the English capital.
Matches elsewhere include Benfica hosting Bayern Munich, Arsenal travelling to Paris FC, and Roma facing the tough test of welcoming a formidable Barcelona to Stadio Tre Fontane.
Opta Analyst presents data-driven predictions for each game from MD2, powered by the Opta supercomputer’s pre-match simulations.
Matchday 2 Predictions
There are three 5:45pm kick-offs to start the matchday on Wednesday as BK Häcken, Paris FC and Roma host the first set of matches.
For inaugural 2025-26 UEFA Women’s Europa Cup winners Häcken, the supercomputer backs them to get the Italian job done this week after a tight 1-0 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan last time out.
This week’s opponents are six-time Serie A champions Juventus. The Bianconere won their opening league match of the season 2-0 against Napoli at the weekend, but tasted defeat in the UWCL at the hands of Portuguese outfit Benfica.
Häcken have lost each of their last three UWCL matches, equalling their longest-ever losing streak in the competition, previously set between 17 November 2021 and 15 December 2021.
The supercomputer predicts a similar fate for Juve this time around; Häcken came out victorious in 64.5% of pre-match simulations. In fact, the simulations saw more draws (19.0%) than wins for Juventus (16.5%).
Elsewhere, two-time UWCL winners Arsenal travel to the French capital to play Paris FC as they look to improve on their 1-0 win against HB Køge. The Gunners netted a stoppage-time penalty to sugarcoat what was otherwise a limp performance against the Danish side.
The big headscratcher for Renée Slegers is quite simply how to get the ball in the back of the net.
A disappointing 1-0 defeat against rivals Chelsea at the weekend leaves Arsenal seventh in the WSL table, having failed to score in two of their four games. In fact, only newly-promoted Charlton Athletic (3) have failed to score more often in league this season.
It will be the first meeting between Paris FC and Arsenal in the UWCL, with the French side having lost each of their previous three matches against English opponents in the competition, all against Chelsea (1-4, 0-4 and 0-4 between 2023 and 2025).
The Gunners came out victorious 1-0 in a pre-season friendly against their opponents this summer, and the supercomputer backs Slegers’ side to start the UWCL campaign with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2022-23, coming out on top in 63.5% of the computer’s 10,000 pre-match simulations.
The third and final early kick-off Wednesday has to offer comes in the form of Roma against competition giants, and favourites Barcelona.
Barça, perhaps unsurprisingly, are flying high once again this season boasting a perfect record in Liga F after five games, having scored 21 times and conceded just twice. Their quest for a fifth UWCL crown got off to a great start too as Barça dominated Servette in an 8-0 win last week.
Before the start of this year’s edition, the Opta supercomputer heavily favoured Barcelona ending the tournament as winners once again; the Blaugrana won the trophy in 41.2% of simulations.
After Roma took a point from their 0-0 draw with OH Leuven last time out, the supercomputer doesn’t envision things improving much this matchday as Barça take all three points in an overwhelming 72.4% of simulations.
The first of Wednesday evening’s ties sees the enthralling action continue.
After their 2-2 draw with Manchester City last week, Bayern Munich travel to Portugal where they will face Benfica, hoping to bring the goods back to Bavaria.
The visitors will be hungry for success; they led against Man City from the 11th minute, before Carlotta Wamser broke Bavarian hearts in the 86th minute to salvage a hard-fought point for Andrée Jeglertz’s side.
In doing so, it was just the second time Bayern had failed to win a UWCL game in which they had led by 2+ goals, last doing so against Roma in November 2023.
Furthermore, the German giants have failed to win in their last three games UWCL matches. Their last longer winless streak was from 18 December 2024 to 7 October 2025, a run of four games – three points will most certainly be on the agenda in Lisbon.
Benfica, on the other hand, will be delighted with their 2-1 victory over Juventus last time out, as they ended an 11 game winless streak in the competition going back to December 2023, their longest such run in the competition.
Despite the Portuguese outfit’s recent European form, the supercomputer backs Bayern to turn their recent UWCL form around, with José Barcala’s side beating Benfica in 65.1% of pre-match simulations.
All eyes nonetheless will be on Wednesday’s meeting between Lyon and Chelsea, as Sonia Bompastor returns to face her former club with the Blues looking to test themselves against the competition’s most successful side.
After edging past title rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Chelsea will be aiming to build on their unbeaten start to the season when they travel to Lyon. According to the Opta supercomputer, this is the most finely balanced fixture of MD2, with the win probabilities closer than in any other game.
Chelsea’s only victory over Lyon came in their most recent meeting, a 1-0 away win in the quarter-finals in March 2023. Prior to that, they had drawn one and lost two of their three encounters with the French side. Interestingly, Chelsea have scored exactly once in each of their four UWCL matches against Lyon.
The Blues have enjoyed success against French opposition in recent years, winning each of their last five UWCL matches against clubs from France, their longest such streak. Only against Scottish sides (six wins) do they currently boast a longer winning run in the competition.
Lyon, meanwhile, responded emphatically to a three-match losing streak, their longest ever in the UWCL, by thrashing Servette 8-0 on MD1. Their 31 shots were the most recorded by any team in the opening round, 11 more than the next-highest total posted by Barcelona.
Marie-Antoinette Katoto‘s hat trick was the first by a Lyon player in the competition since Wendie Renard’s treble against Ryazan-VDV in September 2019, highlighting the attacking threat the French giants possess.
Lyon have also lost just one of their last five UWCL meetings with English opposition (W4), and will be eager to avenge their quarter-final exit to Chelsea three years ago.
The Opta supercomputer gives Lyon a narrow edge, with the French side winning 40.3% of its 10,000 pre-match simulations. Chelsea were victorious in 33.1%, while the remaining 26.6% ended in a draw.
Among the early action of the day for Thursday, newcomers Inter Milan travel to Vienna to take on Austria Wien in another 5:45pm (GMT) kick-off. Both sides will be encouraged by last week’s performances, though the Nerazzurri will be the undoubted happier of the two.
In their first-ever tournament appearance, Inter took down Häcken in a 1-0 victory in front of their home fans, with Haley Bugeja netting the only goal of the match in the fifth minute.
Similarly on Austria Wien tournament debut, despite being defeated by eight-time English champions Chelsea, they will have taken promise from the fact that they kept the scoreline to just 1-0.
Stefan Kenesei’s side had nine second-half shots, five of them on target, and repeatedly tested Chelsea’s back line. Indeed, only Paris FC (14) and Servette (nine) faced more shots on target on MD1 than the six Chelsea allowed against Austria.
Despite this, the supercomputer’s simulations saw Inter Milan take all three points in 65.5% of occasions.
At the same time, Køge host Servette in a tight clash between two of the lower ranked sides in the competition according to the Opta Power Rankings. Both sides lost their matchday one fixtures, though both faced tough opponents in Arsenal and Barcelona, respectively.
Much like Austria Wien, Køge will also have been encouraged by the fact that they held the 2025 champions up until Mariona Caldentey’s last-gasp spot-kick. As for Servette though, there won’t be many positives to take from conceding eight goals.
The supercomputer predicts perhaps one of the closest affairs of MD2, with Køge reigning supreme on 42.8% of occasions in the pre-match simulations.
Manchester City will be targeting their first Champions League victory of 2026-27 as they host Pau Quesada’s Real Madrid at the Joie Stadium.
Following on from their inspired comeback that saw them become the first English side to avoid away defeat against Bayern the UWCL, City are gearing up for another potentially tough test but will be looking to make home advantage count.
Andrée Jeglertz’s team have made the Joie Stadium a fortress in Europe, winning each of their last seven home matches in the competition. Only Barcelona, currently on an 11-game run, have a longer ongoing home winning streak among teams participating in this season’s tournament.
This will be the first meeting between the sides in the UWCL. City have faced Spanish opposition eight times previously (W2 D2 L4), with their most recent victory coming against Barcelona in October 2024.
Madrid arrive full of confidence after an impressive MD1 display, led by their exciting young forward line. Felicia Schröder was the standout performer against PSG, with the 19-year-old recording 1.61 expected goals (xG), the highest total ever registered by a Real Madrid player in a single UWCL match.
Las Blancas are aiming to remain unbeaten across consecutive Champions League matches for just the second time in the club’s history, having previously achieved the feat between October and December 2022. However, the supercomputer makes City clear favourites.
Across 10,000 pre-match simulations, Man City won 63.9% of the time, while Real Madrid were victorious in 16.9%. The remaining 19.2% of simulations ended level, making a draw more likely than a Madrid win according to the model.
Our final match of the week sees Paris Saint-Germain host OH Leuven in the French capital.
PSG opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in a closely contested encounter. The Spanish side struck after just one minute and 37 seconds through Schröder, the fastest goal recorded in the competition so far this season.
Sakina Karchaoui levelled from the penalty spot in the second half to ensure the points were shared, but the result extended a worrying run for the French side. PSG are now without a win in their last nine UWCL league-stage matches, their longest winless streak in the competition.
MD2 offers a strong opportunity to halt that run. OH Leuven are enduring their own struggles in Europe, having failed to win any of their last seven UWCL matches, though they showed their resilience by holding Roma to a draw on MD1.
The Opta supercomputer expects PSG to make home advantage count. The French side won 77.6% of 10,000 pre-match simulations, compared to just 8.4% for OH Leuven, with draws accounting for the remaining 14.0%. PSG will therefore be confident of securing a first European victory in almost two years.
