UFC star's coach issues medical update after fighter stretchered out of arena

Medical staff immediately attended to Barcelos before he was transported to a nearby hospital.

Hours after the unsettling scenes, the UFC confirmed the Brazilian was awake and responding to medical personnel at the hospital.

His head coach, Davi Ramos, later offered an update on social media, confirming he is "doing well".

He said: "He has all his senses, he's moving his leg, his arm, his hand, he's conscious, he's talking, everything is fine with him."

Ramos added Barcelos was being put through a series of medical examinations.

"He's undergoing some tests, and pretty soon he'll be here to talk to you guys," the coach said.

Additional tests were expected in the hours that followed, with Ramos describing the procedures as standard protocol for such an incident.

Ramos urged those following the situation to remain calm and to continue offering their support.

He said: "Keep praying for him. He's undergoing all the tests that are standard in a situation like this.

"He'll have to rest because of what happened, but God willing, everything will be fine."

The coach expressed confidence Barcelos would soon be able to address supporters directly.

"He'll be here with us soon, and he'll be talking to you guys," Ramos added.

He also took a moment to express gratitude towards the wider MMA community, saying: "Thank you to everyone who's been sending messages, positive energy, praying and keeping all of us in your prayers"

Barcelos was ahead and comfortably winning the contest, with all three judges having him ahead on their scorecards.

Rosas Jr was clearly shaken by the incident, saying afterwards: "First, I want everybody tonight, please pray for Raoni Barcelos.

"Man, he's a warrior."
