Umamusume fans need to add this Switch 2 game to their radar, as it could be your next horse-themed obsession.

During the Nintendo Direct on June 9, the Japanese version of the presentation showcased a horse-racing sim game that looks like every Umamusume fan’s dream. While Derby Stallion 2 doesn’t currently have an international release date, it features adrenaline-fueled races where you’ll get to train the IRL counterparts of Umamusume’s most popular horse girls.

According to the translated description, you’ll take control of a small ranch, breed horses, raise foals, and train them up to create the ultimate racing king or queen. Just like Umamusume, armchair jockeys can refine races with various tactics that allow you to take control of how your horse performs.

In true Uma fashion, you can even compete across Japan’s most iconic racetracks, experience realistic dirt racing, and take your four-legged friend’s career to the world stage by competing in international events.

Derby Stallion 2 is a must for Uma fans

Much like Umamusume’s inheritance system, Derby Stallion 2 revolves around breeding horses over multiple generations, with players passing down traits to create stronger bloodlines and future champions.

Despite being devoid of all horse girls, the Switch 2 game features the IRL versions of their anime girl counterparts. In fact, Almond Eye, Duramente, and Forever Young are amongst the few revealed so far.

Derby Stallion 2 has also opted for cel-shaded graphics, which makes them look like they’ve been ripped straight from a horse racing anime. Judging from the trailer, the trainers and commentators have also been given an anime lick of paint, too.

However, you won’t be getting any flashy anime girl ultimates, but Derby Stallion 2 does feature commentary during races. This means you can expect the same level of hype or heartbreak as your horse dominates the competition or narrowly misses out on a win.

Fortunately, if you do lose, at least you won’t have to look your horse girl in the eye while she bawls her eyes out (I’m sorry, Haru Urara, I’m so sorry). This does mean you won’t get to watch any idol performances at the end of your career-winning race, but you can always blast out Umapyoi Densetsu if you feel like flexing your win.

With offline campaign races and competitive PvP online matches, Derby Stallion 2 is certainly shaping up to be a dream for Umamusume fans. Now, here’s to hoping it gets an international release.
