About 20 secondary school students from a Hong Kong charity took part in a Christmas-themed workshop where they decorated pastries and cupcakes with whipped cream and biscuit powder.
The students, aged between 14 and 17, are from Kids4Kids, one of the beneficiaries of this year’s Operation Santa Claus (OSC). The students, mostly from ethnic minority backgrounds, study at Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School.
The event took place at Nina Hotel Tsuen Wan West on December 11, marking Nina Hospitality’s eighth year of sponsoring OSC.
Before the workshop, Nina Hotel held two other parties that offered disadvantaged children a special Christmas experience.
Children from all three events are service users at Kids4Kids, a Hong Kong charity that aims to empower children and help them develop a sense of social responsibility.
“I think it’s a win-win for all companies in Hong Kong to help local charities [like those involved with Operation Santa Claus]. We wish to be seen as part of the community. People come to hotels to celebrate special occasions,” Nina Hospitality managing director Simon Manning said.
Manning also strongly agreed with this year’s OSC tagline that “Everyone can be a Santa Claus,” adding it was in “the spirit of generosity and community support.”
A buffet lunch was later organised at the hotel for the students, following the hour-long workshop.
