CV NEWS FEED // UnitedHealth Group announced Jan. 23 that Tim Noel is the new CEO of UnitedHealthcare, the company’s insurance division. The news comes seven weeks after the alleged assassination of the insurance company’s former CEO Brian Thompson.
Fox News reported that Noel has worked for UnitedHealth Group since 2007. Before his new position, he worked as CEO of the group’s Medicare and retirement business.
UnitedHealth Group said in a statement that Noel “brings unparalleled experience to this role with a proven track record and strong commitment to improving how healthcare works for consumers, physicians, employers, governments and our other partners.”
Thompson was shot and killed in Manhattan Dec. 4, 2024, while in town for the company’s investor conference.

On Dec. 9, suspect Luigi Mangione was charged with second-degree murder for the shooting. He faces four other charges.
Nino Mangione, Luigi’s cousin and a Maryland delegate, released a statement after the arrest on behalf of the family.
“Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest,” he wrote. “We offer prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved. We are devastated by this news.”
As CatholicVote previously reported, Mangione is part of a highly prominent Catholic family in Baltimore.
