The US and Israel are plotting an "overdue" attack on Iran in a bid to cripple the country's nuclear strength, an IDF source has said.
The senior Israeli source has warned that the Iranian atomic programme should have been seen to "a long time ago" - but with Donald Trump back in the White House, now is the "optimum moment to deal with Iran".
"Obtaining precise intelligence on just how far Iran's nuclear programme has advanced has always been hard to obtain," the IDF insider told The Sun.
"But the reality is, they're much much closer than anyone can be comfortable with - and they have been for some time."

"I think President Trump is also very involved in that. He said himself that he prefers to do it not through war. Of course, I agree. It's always better to solve things in diplomacy."
If diplomatic efforts fall through, US forces have massed B-2 stealth bombers at the UK-US base on the Chagos Islands - said to account for almost a third of the US Air Force's stealth fleet.
And this week, Iranian armed forces called for a preemptive strike on the Chagos base before the US can use it to target the Islamic Republic.
Diplomatic sources have warned Iran will be in a position to enrich enough Uranium-233 to produce multiple fission weapons by the end of the month.
And with that in mind, Israel's forces have been pushing for months to clear the way to strike Iran.

So far, three Israeli air campaigns in Iran have eliminated most aerial defences - which were "the main obstacle", the IDF source said.
They added that Israel has worked to neuter the threat posed by Iran-backed terror trio Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis - leaving what Shelly Tal Meron called "the head of the snake" isolated.
They told The Sun: "Over the past year, we struck in Yemen three or four times, and we had three air campaigns in Iran, eliminating on the way most of the aerial defence systems in Syria, Iraq, and Iran.
"They were the main obstacle when thinking about a big aerial operation on the way to Iran. Their proxy aerial defence systems."
