UTA has signed director/producer Jesús Colmenar for representation in all areas.
Colmenar is best known as the producing director on one of Netflix’s most viewed shows, “La Casa de Papel (Money Heist)”, directing the pilot as well as over 20 episodes of the Spanish-language hit. The show centers on a group of misfit con artists and robbers who convene under the guidance of “the Professor” to rob major banks in Spain. “Money Heist” spawned the prequel spinoff series “Berlin,” which has been renewed for a second season at Netflix and is set to shoot in 2025.
Born and raised in Spain, Colmenar quickly made a name for himself in the television space, directing over 60 episodes of TV for series such as “Los Hombres de Paco” and “El Barco.” He has also directed multiple episodes of Alex Pina’s “El Embarcadero (The Pier)” for Moviestar+, “Vis a Vis (Locked Up)” for Globomedia and Netflix, as well as “Sky Rojo” for Netflix.
Colmenar just wrapped production on Alex Pina’s next Netflix show. In addition, he is attached direct a horror feature for 21 Laps and is developing two thrillers, one with AGBO and another with Bruckheimer.
