Valerie Bertinelli praised her ex-boyfriend Mike Goodnough three months after their breakup.
The actress, 64, took to Instagram Monday to share a black-and-white selfie of the former couple to commemorate the one-year anniversary of meeting “in person,” noting that she is “irreversibly changed by him for the better.”
According to Bertinelli, she is also “becoming a much stronger and more benevolent human for having met him and spent time with him.”
Before meeting Goodnough, the “One Day at a Time” star was “initially and immediately attracted to his writing,” which she described as “heartfelt, authentic, smart, funny, sensitive, caring, and from the soul.”
She added that “the way he puts words together is just sooo ridiculously beautiful” and called herself “a big fan” of his work.
The Golden Globe winner explained that Goodnough “is exactly as heartfelt, authentic, sensitive and caring as his writing. And wickedly witty. 😂.”
She feels “so lucky” to have gotten to know her once-beau and “soak up his insights.”
Bertinelli penned, “I value all of our long conversations and they have lead [sic] me to interesting and fascinating places I rarely thought to go. I look at life with a different perspective and caring because of my experiences and conversations with him.”
The TV personality also shared that Goodnough has had “a big part” in helping her “heal from some old childhood wounds” she “never knew what to do with or even where to start.”
She encouraged her followers to “subscribe to Hoarse Whisperings Substack” to “get the beautiful gift of what it’s like to be in his orbit.
“Or, as I think he might put it,” she remarked, “to pull up a chair and sit at his big table in community and conversation.”
The “Bingo Blitz” host concluded her message, “Thank you, Mike, we may no longer be a couple, but you’ll always hold a very special place in my heart. Love you. ♥️.”
The exes split in November 2024 after 10 months of dating.
“They are no longer in a relationship,” a source told People at the time, with Goodnough adding in a cryptic statement to the magazine, “Valerie and I are the only two people with insight into our relationship. Neither of us pays much attention to chatter among people outside of it.”
The pair’s long-distance romance began in January 2024; Bertinelli went on to gush over her partner that March but did not reveal his name.
The following month, Goodnough’s identity was revealed, and the duo went Instagram-official days later.
Bertinelli was married to rocker Eddie Van Halen from 1981 to 2007 before she wed financial planner Tom Vitale in January 2011.
She has been vocal about her November 2021 split from her second husband, labeling him a “narcissist” who called her “fat” and “lazy.”
When their divorce was finalized in November 2022, she “happily” celebrated.
