Valorant’s 13.01 patch notes are here, with some big changes to the Outlaw, as well as rank manipulation penalties. Here’s what you need to know.

The last few months have seen some pretty big changes made to Valorant. Riot Games opened up the 13.0 update with sweeping changes to every Sentinel and Initiator agent, while Summit was also added as a new map.

Prior to that, there had also been a continued clampdown on players who manipulate their rank in order to get easier matches. 13.00 also addressed this with a new message and feedback thanking players who report others.

Now, with 13.01 here, they’ve continued that clampdown, and also made some changes to the Outlaw sniper shotgun.

That’s right, the big focus of this update centres again on rank manipulation. Now, players who are found guilty of it will face a number of penalties ranging from account suspensions, rank reversions, and ranked reward reversions.

“We’ve rolled out new tools to better detect rank manipulation in VALORANT, building on systems we successfully introduced in League of Legends last year. Combined with the data we’ve gathered since adding the Rank Manipulation category in-game late last year, we will begin issuing penalties for confirmed rank manipulation,” Riot said.

Outlaw adjusted in 13.01 update

Additionally, the Outlaw has also undergone some changes in 13.01. Now, the weapons recovery has gone from 0.1 to 0.15 after your first shot, while the spread has increased from 0 to 2.25.

Recoil has also seen a sizable increase, moving from 0 to 4.0 after your first shot too. So, you will notice a difference across the board.

PLAYER BEHAVIOR UPDATES

Rank Manipulation Penalties

  • We’ve rolled out new tools to better detect rank manipulation in VALORANT, building on systems we successfully introduced in League of Legends last year. Combined with the data we’ve gathered since adding the Rank Manipulation category in-game late last year, we will begin issuing penalties for confirmed rank manipulation.
  • Penalties may include account suspensions, rank reversions, and ranked reward reversions.
  • As part of this, players will begin to receive reporter and bystander feedback in-game when a player in their matches is penalized for rank manipulation.
  • Our goal is to protect ranked integrity and make sure competitive progress reflects fair play. For more detail on what counts as rank manipulation and how we’re approaching enforcement, check out this Play Fair article.

Outlaw has been performing strongly and we still want it to feel powerful with its back-to-back shots, but allow for some expression and some control to warrant that power.

Outlaw

  • Recovery from 0.1 >>> 0.15 after first shot
  • Spread from 0 >>> 2.25 after first shot
  • Recoil from 0 >>> 4.0 after first shot
