A developer is creating a game where you must find a needle in a haystack, and it looks as time-consuming as it sounds.
Have you ever wondered just how long it would really take to find a needle in a heap of hay? If the answer is yes, you’ll finally be able to put your eyesight and patience to the test.
Yes, one indie dev is turning this age-old expression into a video game. All you need is a keen eye and the willingness to sift through five million pieces of hay.
So, if you’re always the first to spot Waldo (Wally for my UK friends), fancy yourself as an eagle-eyed FPS marksman, or just want something to whittle away the time while you wait for GTA 6 or The Duskbloods, then this game may just be for you.
This game will test your eyesight and patience
There have been some pretty unique games cropping up on Steam as of late, with everything from titles that force you to watch paint dry to fighting games where players can unleash devastating kung fu combos with tanks.
However, it’s a needle-in-a-haystack simulation game that requires players to methodically remove pieces of hay one by one until they find the needle. Interestingly, the game’s creator has never found said needle, so it looks like we could all be in for some long mouse-clicking sessions.
Since posting the clip online, the reveal has received a massive 189k likes and thousands of comments from those wanting to sign up for the challenge.
“You know, I’m all about these meditative, repetitive type games… But I think you might have found my limit. Will I still try it? Absolutely. Will I cry while I fight to finish it? Yes,” joked one commenter.
“Can’t wait to spend 70 hours on this then watch a 12-year-old find it in 14 seconds using a Guitar Hero controller,” joked another.
The dev has also hinted that tools may be implemented to make this arduous game of hide and seek quicker, while a multiplayer mode where you can search together with friends could also be added.
There’s currently no release date yet, but a Steam page is expected to be revealed soon. Funnily enough, this isn’t the only indie game that has caught our attention this year. Back in July, a dev went viral after he revealed that he used images of his sleeping wife to create a terrifying monster in his horror game.
