After publicly declaring his desire to leave the Kansas City Chiefs, the franchise granted offensive tackle Wanya Morris his wish.

Morris was traded, along with a 2027 seventh-round pick, to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick, according to multiple reports.

The lineman started 16 games over the course of three seasons in Kansas City - including 11 starts at left tackle in 2024.

Morris' move to Atlanta fills a need for the Falcons on the offensive line following the sudden retirement of starter Kaleb McGary in the offseason.

It's possible that Morris is moved to right tackle considering Atlanta's plans to start either Tua Tagovailoa or Michael Penix Jr - both left-handed quarterbacks - this season.

Earlier in the season, the Falcons also signed one of Morris' former Chiefs teammates - Jawaan Taylor - in free agency.

Morris has put up sixteen starts since being drafted by Kansas City in 2023

Meanwhile, mid-season acquisition Michael Jerrell has received most of the first-team reps at right tackle in open practices.

Earlier on Thursday, the Falcons placed tackle Storm Norton on the PUP list as he recovers from an ankle surgery he underwent the season prior.

Morris was a 2023 third-round pick of the Chiefs out of the University of Oklahoma. He previously spent two seasons at Tennessee.

But despite his starting experience, it became clear in minicamp that Morris was behind the likes of Jaylon Moore, Chukwuebuka Godrick and undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson on the depth chart.

'[He's] big and strong and looks like he has some good athletic ability, good feet for a big fella like that,' coach Andy Reid said of Benson (via ESPN). '[He has] extremely strong hands. [I] look forward to seeing him in pads.'
