Twitch streamer Summit1g was hit with a permanent cheating ban in the newly released shooter Wardogs, after a developer reviewing footage mistakenly banned him instead of the actual cheater he was reporting.
Summit had been dying repeatedly to a one-shot sniper while hiding inside a building, with no line of sight to explain the kills.
He initially suspected stream sniping before realizing something else was going on.

The game logged him out mid-match and hit him with a notification confirming a permanent ban for cheating.
“I got banned? He was cheating. For real? You banned the wrong guy!” Summit1g said live on stream.
Wardogs uses a hybrid anti-cheat system combining AI detection with manual human review, and a moderator reviewing the footage picked Summit’s profile instead of the sniper’s while watching the clip.
“It was close, but it was the guy that was killing me,” Summit said. “I sure as sh*t wasn’t killing him. I was the victim.”
He guessed at how the mix-up happened, given he’d been eliminating plenty of enemies himself. “They may have seen me standing over like 20 bodies, and they were like, dude, that guy is definitely cheating.”

Bulkhead reversed the ban shortly after, and CEO Joe Brammer poked fun at the developer involved in a video posted publicly.
“So you guys are worried about us having an AI anti-cheat. We always have to have a human involved. Well, this f**king idiot here, when the human was involved, f**king banned Summit instead of the cheater in Summit’s stream. So, f**king good job.”
The mix-up came during a chaotic launch window for Wardogs, which pulled in over 340,000 concurrent players on release but also saw queues exceeding 135,000 people trying to get into matches.
