The Warzone Season 4 update marks the long-awaited return of the Battle Royale Solos playlist, but another Solos has been removed in its place.
In recent seasons, Warzone’s standard Battle Royale mode hasn’t had a solo option. This meant that players who don’t have a squad to play with either had to match with randoms or play the Casual Solos mode with bots instead.
Fans have been desperately calling for the playlist to return, but were left disappointed with every playlist update. Now, though, it’s finally returning.
Warzone Solos returns as Battle Royale Solos is removed
The devs confirmed that Battle Royale Solos is coming back when the Season 4 update goes live on June 4, meaning players can finally drop into matches alone if they don’t have a party to team up with.
However, it comes at the cost of Black Ops Royale Solos, which will be removed at the same time. Following this update, Quads will be the only playlist for Black Ops Royale, so you’ll either need to find three friends to play with or fill your squad with randoms.
In a post on the Call of Duty Updates X page, the devs revealed it was low player counts that led to this decision.
“Since Solos was added to the Black Ops Royale playlist, it has consistently had the lowest player population of any Warzone playlist,” they said. “This change helps us maintain a healthy playlist ecosystem while providing players with the experiences they prefer most. Black Ops Royale Solos remains available in Private Matches.”
New playlist updates arrive every Thursday, so it’s possible that Black Ops Royale Solos could return in the future. But given its lack of popularity, it’s unlikely to return anytime soon, while Battle Royale Solos is given some time in the spotlight.
