Washington Post columnist sparks backlash with 'deranged' rant claiming Trump's cabinet picks 'want to kill your kids'

Anti-Trump conservative Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin was in hysterics claiming Democrats should tell voters Donald Trump's Cabinet picks 'want to kill your kids.'

Rubin, 62, was a conservative commentator at the Jeff Bezos-owned paper until Trump's takeover of the Republican Party.

She now largely advocates for Democrats and on her podcast, 'Jen Rubin's Green Room,' gave some shocking advice to liberals going forward after Trump's victory over Kamala Harris. 

'You have to boil it down to nuts and bolts and you have to be pithy,' she said, when saying how Democrats can get their message to low information voters. 

She then asked: What do I mean by pithy? How about this: Republicans want to kill your kids. It's actually true.' 

Rubin cited Trump Cabinet choices such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has made disputed claims in the past, for secretary of health and human services. 

She also complained about conservatives' pro-gun agenda. 

'If you're going to oppose vaccinations, if you're going to stop breakthrough medical research, if you're going to allow minors and all sorts of people to get semiautomatic weapons — which they use to shoot up schools — well then, you are responsible for kids' health and death,' she said. 

Conservatives on social media immediately met her with an equally pithy response.

'Jen Rubin hides under protected posts while telling her audience 'Republicans want to kill your kids.' No. It's the Democrats that die on the hill of abortion, and abortion kills. Abortion killed over ONE MILLION UNBORN BABIES in 2023 alone,' wrote one conservative. 

Citizen Free Press wrote: 'Jen Rubin is a garbage human. She is one of 5 most annoying democrat bootlickers in mainstream media.'

Libs of Tik Tok added: 'Democrats: We need to tone down the rhetoric! How did politics get so divisive? Jen Rubin: Democrats' message should be that Republicans want to k*II your kids.'

'Jen Rubin, a deranged, elderly leftist witch who has claimed to be conservative for years... Now claims Republicans want to 'kill your kids.' This is how pathetic the media is getting,' wrote Tim Young.

Rubin signed an op-ed on behalf of several Washington Post columnists outraged at the paper's refusal to endorse Kamala Harris. 

She has also been calling for a boycott of MSNBC, a network she often appears on, as a response to the hosts of Morning Joe's secret meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

The Washington Post's boss has hit back at claims it was Jeff Bezos who squashed the paper's endorsement of Kamala Harris.

The outlet, which is owned by the billionaire Amazon founder, announced it will not be supporting either presidential candidate. 

A Harris endorsement had been drafted and was being reviewed by Bezos, according to the paper's page editor David Shipley but was spiked just 11 days before the election.

At least one editor has resigned, according to CNN, which also reports that thousands of readers have pulled their subscriptions.

However, publisher Will Lewis rejected claims that Bezos was involved in the endorsement decision.
