Washington State Gun Sales Have Been Shut Down For 12 Days And Counting

In the United States of America, with the Second Amendment protecting our natural right to keep and bear arms, one would think that computer difficulties wouldn’t stop gun sales in an entire state for nearly two weeks.

Alas, one would be wrong.

Since November 1, nobody has been able to legally purchase a firearm in Washington State because of a computer system in the state’s Secure Automated Firearms E-Check (SAFE) system being “compromised.” That’s the program through which Washington conducts its background checks, instead of just going through the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) system.

When employees realized the system had been “compromised” on November 1 (they won’t say what that means), rather than figuring out how to fix it or putting some standby system into place, they immediately shut it down, making it impossible for gun dealers to run background checks for purchases. Since private sales are outlawed in the state, that effectively shut down all legal gun buying and selling.

This is when you ignore the State Laws and do as you need to do.

Why not just use the standard FBI system, like almost every other state does?

Since November 1, nobody has been able to legally purchase a firearm in Washington State because of a computer system in the state’s Secure Automated Firearms E-Check (SAFE) system being “compromised.”

This is a creative method to work around the Second Amendment. Unfortunately, the wheels of justice are slow.

has it been challenged?

Hypothetically, if, as an example, the system went down at say 3 o’clock in the afternoon, and they reported it would be down for the rest of the day. They were only be a two hour, or so, interruption in sales, I wouldn’t consider that a huge constitutional crisis, as long as it was communicated from the state with plans for the next day should the system not be brought up to allow sales, such as utilizing the FBI system directly, or some other solution. However, for it to be down over a week is simply unexcused usable with no workaround

Like I said in these cases you MUST take the Law into your own hands.

I would assume there’s various legal challenges about private sales, etc. In these Democrat run states it just takes years and years for them to wind other ways through the court, when the Democrat run states have nearly unlimited piles of cash to throw at these unconstitutional laws to try to defend them.

It may not be currently challenged in one state, but another state may have something in federal court going on that. They are waiting for to see how that goes, etc.

I expect more systems will become ‘compromised’ in other states that have their own systems, and maybe even the Feds system will soon become ‘compromised’. For sure it would be had Harris won.

Well I am in Arkansas and 2nd AD is fully practiced as we have CCW and Open Carry both and with a CCW you do not need to go through any FBI check, pay and go...Blue States are so screwed up People in those States get what they deserve as elections have consequences.

To: matt04

Word is Trump and Congress are going to pass a CCW national reciprocity law so none of these Blue states can prevent a CCW permit.
