Joe Biden has been largely kept out of the public eye since his disastrous presidency finally reached its conclusion, with the public only getting a few glimmers of Slow Joe acting like himself again, a decided disappointment to those who got at least some entertainment out of his antics compared to the generally as-terrible and far more boring antics of the rest of his party.

In any case, he was back on the public stage–literally–on Thursday, June 18, at the grand opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, a building that was itself as much of a debacle as Slow Joe’s presidency was known to all as being. During the event, 83-year-old Joe Biden was left awkwardly standing on stage alone.

Such came at the end of the opening dedication ceremony, when everyone else, including former President Barack Obama, had already made their way off stage. With the music playing and the ceremony ready to end, Biden was left standing on the stage alone, peering out into the crowd with a confused look on his face.

In fact, the video of the incident that emerged shows the former President, who would be just a year and a half into his second term had he won the election, looking about as senile as possible: he pulled down his sunglasses and stared into the crowd as everyone else left, including his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, and Obama.

Former President Biden then dialed it up a notch by shouting, “where’s my granddaughter?” No one responded. Apparently, his granddaughter was in the audience and he was trying to look for her, but couldn’t find her, and so stayed behind on the stage, alone, in an attempt to see her. Sweet in a grandpa sort of way, perhaps, but not dignified…or confidence-inspiring about the state of his cognitive health and reasoning.

Posting about the clip, Buzz Paterson said, “This is the best Biden video I’ve ever seen! The dude is gone. Not even Jill waited for him.🤣🤣🤣” A commenter on the post joked, He thought he was still president and was supposed to make a speech at that podium. 😂”

Similarly, another commenter said, “I despise Joe Biden. I think he will be remembered as the worst US President. And yes, I am familiar with James Buchanan and Andrew Johnson. But this is just sad. Nancy Reagan loved Ronnie and cared about his legacy, so she sequestered him when the Alzheimer’s started taking its toll. Either Dr. Jill hates Joe or she just loves the limelight more.”

The incident was made all the more awkward by the fact that Hillary Clinton had, just days earlier, appeared at New York’s 92nd Street Y to talk about former President Joe Biden and his attempt at re-election, insisting that it was a “terrible mistake”. Further, she insisted that a competitive primary process would have delivered better results for democrats than pushing Kamala into the candidacy after Biden melted down on stage in the debate and dropped out.

Making that point, former Secretary of State Clinton said, “Very sadly, I believe whoever emerged from that contest, whether it was the vice president or a governor or a senator or anybody else, would have beaten Donald Trump. So I think it was a terrible miscalculation on the part of President Biden.”
