WATCH: Chuck Schumer Loses It after Getting Called Out to His Face!

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer snapped at an activist who interrupted his anti-corruption speech and confronted him over his support for Israel. Schumer repeatedly ordered the man to sit down before thanking him for his “diatribe” and declaring that the audience had not come to hear him speak. Staff members eventually approached the protester and escorted him from the room as he continued shouting accusations at the New York Democrat.

The confrontation occurred at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., where Schumer was promoting proposed legislation that would establish a new federal Anti-Corruption Bureau. Schumer had partnered with the Public Citizen Foundation to unveil the proposal during the event. The man interrupting him was Sam Husseini, an activist and self-described journalist with a history of disrupting public appearances over American policy toward Israel.

Husseini began shouting at Schumer while the senator was discussing his anti-corruption proposal. “What can be more corrupt than backing genocide?” he asked. Husseini then accused Schumer and President Donald Trump of trading places as partisan villains while supporting many of the same policies surrounding Israel.

Husseini also claimed that Schumer had previously been warned about potential legal liability connected to American support for Israel. As the New York Post reported, the activist referenced a November 2023 notice from the Center for Constitutional Rights and other organizations. He alleged that the notice concerned potential liability for aiding or conspiring in genocide, an accusation Schumer did not address.

Schumer instead attempted to shut down the interruption and return to his prepared remarks. “Please sit down. Please sit down,” he told Husseini. The senator then dismissed the protester’s accusations, saying, “Thank you for your diatribe. Now let’s continue. Let’s continue.” Schumer invoked the rest of the audience while pressing Husseini to stop speaking. “The people—the people didn’t come to hear you,” he said. Husseini continued interrupting despite the senator’s response, prompting staff members to approach him and begin escorting him from the room.

Husseini did not stop criticizing Schumer as he was removed. He accused the senator of having a “diabolical record” and attacked him for appearing publicly despite his support for Israel. He also turned his anger toward Public Citizen, accusing the organization of preventing Schumer from facing hostile questions during an event centered on government accountability.

Husseini has staged similar confrontations at other public events. In January 2025, he interrupted then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s final press conference and accused the outgoing diplomat of responsibility for the war in Gaza. Security officers physically removed Husseini from that event as he continued shouting at Blinken.

Schumer’s proposed Anti-Corruption Bureau would merge the Office of Government Ethics, the Federal Election Commission, and the Office of Special Counsel into a single federal entity. The bureau would receive broad subpoena and investigative powers and it would be overseen by a seven-member board, with no more than three members permitted to belong to the same political party.

The legislation would also impose tighter ethics and anti-corruption restrictions on presidents, vice presidents, senior administration officials, and members of their families. Schumer’s office declined to comment when the New York Post asked about Husseini’s disruption.
