Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy recently reported on what transpired after President Joe Biden cursed at him, referring to him as a “stupid son of a b*tch” earlier in his administration. Speaking to Fox & Friends, Doocy recounted the experience, explaining that Biden contacted him after the incident inviting him to a lunch that does not seem likely to happen.
As background, the incident occurred in January 2022 when Doocy asked the president about the hot-button issue of inflation, prompting Biden to hurl the insult. “Will you take questions on inflation then? Do you think inflation is a political liability ahead of the midterms?” Doocy asked. Biden, with his mic still on, said, “No, it’s a great asset. More inflation. What a stupid son of a b*tch.”
Asking the reporter about the controversial incident, his father Steve Doocy said, “Nobody, over the last four years has gotten Joe Biden to say more about stuff you want to say than you did. You know you were constantly barking questions at him, and most famously, you, you yelled at him about inflation, and he called you a stupid SOB.”
He continued, “Since this is your last Friday at the Biden White House, I know we can tell the story now, he actually called you when you were alive on special report with Brett Baer, and he told you something that nobody knows.” Peter confirmed this account, stating, “He did. I feel like I can say this now, because it never happened, he called me, and initially he told me, it’s nothing personal, that he said a bad word.”
Explaining what went down, Doocy added, “And he also said, and this was at the tail end of COVID. He said he would have me in for lunch when it was safe. Well, I think his lunch card is probably filled. It never happened.” Doocy quipped, “So it was never safe to have lunch with me.” He added, “The lunch never happened. I’ve told many people about the lunch. The lunch never happened. I did not pack lunch today. On Fridays, I’m usually out of leftovers, so we’re out here”
Doocy lightheartedly joked with his colleagues that the president’s “promise” was “broken.” Concluding the discussion, Steve said that if “Donald Trump invited you to lunch, you would have lunch.” Peter responded, “Just saying, Hey, Mr. President, I’ll be here on Monday. If Obama and Bush Clinton are just gonna skip your inaugural lunch, I’m free.”
The American Tribune previously reported on the incident, in which Doocy said, “[Biden] cleared the air. And I appreciated it. We had a nice call. He said it’s nothing personal, pal. And I told him that I appreciated him reaching out. Hey, Sean, the world is on the brink of like World War III right now with all the stuff going on.” He added, “I appreciate that the president took a couple minutes out this evening … to give me a call and clear the air. But I don’t need anybody to apologize to me. He can call me whatever he wants as long as it gets him talking.”
