(LifeSiteNews) — LifeSiteNews journalist Frank Wright said in a Wednesday interview that the Catholic Church has the “blueprint” for “how to restore our civilization.”

In a discussion of the current problems of Britain and the West on the show Catholic Unscripted, host Katherine Bennett concluded that “The answer is to turn back to God.”

She drew a parallel between modern man and the Old Testament story of Hosea, who God commanded to marry a prostitute in order to serve as a “living, breathing metaphor for his unending faithful love toward the nation of Israel,” and Israel’s infidelity.

Becoming “faithful” to God again will rectify our problems “more than any political party,” Bennett stressed.

Wright then pointed out that the ruling liberal system, which drives so many modern ills, is “idolatry.”

By the same token, the foundation for a thriving society is the Catholic Church, which has no “close competitor” for its metaphysics, Wright argued.

“That matters because that’s the basis of what is real and what is true, and the limits and nature of the human condition. And if you proceed from that foundation to enact laws to talk about justice and what’s morally right and wrong, then you are proceeding from the soundest foundation ever committed to paper in the history of the human race,” said Wright.

“You can see that all the moral and social problems that we have have been predicted by the Church, and their causes and effects have been enumerated,” he noted.

People should be interested now in why the Church has “such extraordinary explanatory power over a century before the fact,” Wright continued, because the “terrible effects” of common modern beliefs are becoming increasingly evident, such as in the recent attacks in Belfast and on Henry Nowak.

“Now the people ask, ‘What do we do next? What’s responsible? Well, what’s realistic? What’s pragmatic?’”

“Well, if you look at what the Church says about how to restore our civilization, you have a blueprint for that … Catholic social teaching isn’t politics. It is a very strong armature, the internal structure of a morally sound, intellectually sound, practical way to govern yourself and the state.”

Whereas the current political economy “has organized human affairs around the maximization of profit and power for the machine that rules us,” the “political economy suggested by the teachings of the Church is one that maximizes human flourishing,” noted Wright.

The LifeSiteNews contributor, who shot to prominence after Elon Musk shared a video of him giving a street interview, said his mission is to “see as much as possible of the rational, sane, and practical wisdom of the Catholic social teaching inform our future political economy.”

“This includes things such as the recognition that rights must be balanced by duties between capital, labor, ruler, and ruled,” said Wright.
