Andy Burnham has delivered his first address to the nation as Prime Minister from Downing Street.
Speaking before assembled staff and supporters, the former Manchester Mayor spoke of a need for politicians to “raise our game and rise to the new challenge”.
“I want to be honest with you: We have not been good enough and we need to be better,” Mr Burnham said.
“We will be,” he pledged, promising to deliver a “new political model and new economic model” for the country.
The new Prime Minister broke with convention during his address, speaking without a lectern before the famous black door just moments after being appointed by King Charles.
