Trying to defend the judiciary’s attempts to block President Trump’s agenda in an intensely emotional ramble in Congress, radical liberal Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) got caught in embarrassing hypocrisy after Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) brilliantly exposed her recent involvement in efforts to impeach conservative Supreme Court justices.
The House Judiciary Committee hearing, “Judicial Overreach & Constitutional Limits on the Federal Courts,” took place on April 1. Rep. Crockett passionately condemned Republicans for criticizing activist judges and dramatically warned of the destruction of the judiciary if Republicans continue to hold radical judges accountable.
In her opening remarks, Rep. Crockett did her best to argue that it is okay that left-wing judges are stopping executive action, saying, “Which branch of government is responsible for interpreting what is and what is not legal? It’s the courts. It’s not the former speakers, it’s not everyday people, it’s not the President. I just wanted to make sure that we understood who was responsible.”
Following that statement, Rep. Crockett went on to claim that many Americans are scared of President Trump simply following through on his campaign promises. She said, “What is so frustrating for so many of the American people, the ones that are watching right now and otherwise, and the reason that they’re outraged and scared is because what we see right now is a diminishing of all these institutions.”
Continuing to spout her liberal rhetoric, Rep. Crockett claimed there should be more support for stopping President Trump. She continued, adding, “Right now, we have a legislative branch that has decided that it intentionally would disregard its duties. They are not checking the President whatsoever. The only check that the American people have had thus far has been from the judiciary.”
Next, the liberal representative fearmongered the panel by making a case that President Trump has unchecked power. She said, “Imagine the type of world where the President does whatever he wants to and no one can rein him in. It’s a world that right now many people are afraid of. Let me put it this way, if Joe Biden would have done an executive order for abortion despite what the Supreme Court said, that would have been a problem.”
She closed her remarks to the House Judiciary Committee with another attempt to create fear and chaos. In her final statement, she said, “The problem that we have right now is that if we continue down this road, then we will not have a rule of law because we have people who are currently serving, and they’re saying things like, ignore the judge’s order.”

Rep. Issa quickly shattered Rep. Crockett’s moral grandstanding by highlighting her participation in Democrats’ previous impeachment efforts against conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. In a brilliant response, he said, “AOC, as we know her, filed Articles of Impeachment on Justice Thomas and Alito; Miss Crockett was one of the co-sponsored along with Mr. Cohen, both members of this committee. It does seem interesting that when the shoe is on the other foot, everyone is self-righteous.”
His response prompted laughter in the room, causing frustration for Rep. Crockett, who attempted to interrupt, but Issa waved her off dismissively, continuing, “It does seem interesting that when the shoe is on the other foot, everyone is self-righteous, and I think this is a good example… I have had to listen to one side talking about impeachment as though it was the nature of this hearing. It is not.”
Rep. Crockett was notably silent afterward, her previous strong words undermined by her record of endorsing impeachment articles alongside radical left-wing Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Indeed, Ocasio-Cortez claimed the legitimacy of the Supreme Court itself was in doubt when filing articles of impeachment against Justices Thomas and Alito. Watch the full exchange here:
