WATCH: Newsom Tells Investigation Lie So Bold that Even CNN Calls Him On It, But Then Embarasses Itself by Trying to Attack Trump Anyway

The DOJ is investigating Jennifer Siebel Newsom, wife of Governor Gavin Newsom, over what appears to be a tax issue connected to her non-profit. As could be expected, the far-left governor is attempting to make hay while the sun shines out of that, and has insisted that Trump is targeting him specifically for personal reasons. CNN called the government out for that false claim, but then immediately turned around and embarrassed itself by trying to attack Trump anyway.

Newsom, for reference, has claimed, “My wife & I joined Donald Trump’s hit list. He has directed his Department of Justice to investigate us. They have not found a crime – they are simply trying to find one. He isn’t coming after me because of mean tweets, but because I am considering running for President.” He added, “He hates that I consistently call him out. He is simply the most corrupt President in American history. We have nothing to hide. Mr. President, come after me. I am not going anywhere. The country is watching.”

CNN, reporting on the matter, noted that Newsom’s wife is a subject of the investigation, saying, “Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California’s governor and potential 2028 presidential contender Gavin Newsom, is currently under federal investigation for possible tax crimes. The full scope of the investigation into the first partner is unclear.”

Continuing, the CNN report noted that Jennifer Siebel Newso, who is a “documentary filmmaker,” “founded Representation Project, a nonprofit focused on gender equity in media.” To provide proof of that, it cut to her saying, “I love championing focusing on uplifting and supporting women and girls.”

Adding to that, CNN explained that Mrs. Newsom “also owns a film production company called Girls Club Entertainment, which is listed as a contractor on the Representation Project’s tax returns, and she co-founded the California Partners Project, a nonprofit that works to get more women onto corporate boards, address the gender pay gap, and make tech safer for children.”

Suggesting that long-term allegations of self-dealing of some sort might finally be being investigated, the CNN report noted, “Critics have raised the possibility of self-dealing for years, despite no public evidence of wrongdoing. While it is unclear what exactly investigators are focused on, they have recently interviewed potential witnesses, including people close to the first couple.”

That’s when it got to calling out the governor, noting that he has tried to frame the investigation as being focused on him and part of a political witch hunt, which does not appear to be at all true, given that the investigation began under Biden. “Sources tell CNN that the governor is not directly under investigation, but he has framed the probe as politically motivated and targeting him,” the report said. It then cut to Newsom insisting, despite the evidence, “Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my mean tweets, he is coming after me because I’m considering running for president.”

That wasn’t all. CNN also noted that the investigation, which appears to be a tax probe, is seemingly connected to “The tax probe is not the only recent investigation into someone in Newsom’s orbit. His former chief of staff, Dana Williamson, was recently prosecuted related to corruption. She pleaded guilty to three charges earlier this year.”

Still, never an organization to side with President Trump, CNN then had to turn on a dime and insist, despite having just moments before noted that actually the investigation was not what Newsom claims, that Trump is targeting his political enemies. “President Trump has made it clear he wants his Justice Department to pursue his political enemies. Just last year, he called for Newson to be arrested and has attacked him repeatedly,” it said.
