In a not-so-surprising but still jaw-dropping moment out of the United States Capitol on Thursday, March 6, Fox News Channel reporter Johnny Belisario was shoved by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). That came when he tried asking the notoriously woke “Squad” member why she and some of her fellow Democrats refused to stand up and applaud some of President Donald Trump’s ver bipartisan callouts during his Tuesday night State of the Union address.

The incident came when Belisario, reporting out of the US Capitol on Thursday, was asking those Democrats who remained seated and refused to clap for the mother of Laken Riley, who attended the address and was singled out for praise by President Trump as he made a point about illegal immigration and its ravages.

Amongst the Democratic senators and members of Congress that Belisario peppered with questions about remaining quiet and stony-faced when the mother of a young girl slain by an illegal immigrant was honored was Rep. Ilhan Omar, who was by far the most frazzled and upset of the bunch about his questioning.

She, instead of answering, showed that she was agitated and retreated to an elevator in the building. Belisario tried following her into it to continue pressing her on why she refused to stand with the murdered girl’s mother, and instead of answering, she snapped at him and shoved him out of the elevator.

As Belisario followed her into the elevator while asking her about the incident, Rep. Omar snapped, “You need to move!” She then shoved him, pushing him out of the elevator with a good bit of force, and once he was out, closed the door on him. Then, after doing so, she snarkily snapped, “Have a good day! I need to go to a meeting.” Watch her here:

Sen. Fetterman (D-PA), for his part, told Belisario that he thought the spectacle of Democrats refusing to clap for, amongst other people, the young boy with cancer, was very bad optics for the Democratic Party, putting them in a quite negative light. He said, “I watched it. I don’t think that was the best look for our party last night.”

Fetterman also spoke about that issue to Nicholas Ballasy for Fox News Digital, saying, “I don’t know why we can’t fully celebrate. I mean, I have a 13-year-old myself, and thank God she’s never had cancer, but I think that’s something we can all celebrate there. And I think it was a touching moment. And, like I said, that’s part of the best of the American experience.”

Similarly, Sen. Fetterman posted about the matter on X (formerly Twitter), arguing that the “unhinged petulance” shown by his party makes Trump look better to the American people and the Democrats look far worse. He said, “A sad cavalcade of self owns and unhinged petulance. It only makes Trump look more presidential and restrained. We’re becoming the metaphorical car alarms that nobody pays attention to—and it may not be the winning message.”
