President Donald Trump hosted a UFC fight on the White House lawn on his 80th birthday as part of the Freedom 250 celebrations, and, as could be expected, the usual suspects are going absolutely ballistic about it on television and on social media. Leading the charge was “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin.
She went berserk over the now-famous (or infamous, depending on who you are) line from UFC heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit, made after the match. He said, in commentary laughed about by MAGA around the country, “And lastly, Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?” That comment was a reference to the long-running joke that Michelle Obama isn’t a woman, a typical throwaway joke in many MAGA spheres.
Amongst those who was not amused was Sunny Hostin, who clutched her pearls and claimed that the joke was a “derogatory slur” that reflects poorly on President Trump. She insisted, kicking off her hand-wringing commentary about the joke, “I do want to address the derogatory slur made about the former first lady, Michelle Obama, because I think it’s important to address.”
Continuing, she bizarrely jumped from a joke about the wife of the much-disliked former president to an insistence that the joke and attitude were rooted in slavery, saying, “I think the reason that it’s important is because for a long time — and the roots are in slavery — black women have been slurred and made to feel that they were unattractive.”
“The View” co-host then went on to insist that it was because of the legacy of slavery that black women in America have been “made to feel that they were masculine, made to feel that they were — they didn’t have the femininity that a white woman would have.”
Then, getting really mad about the joke and the crowd’s reaction to it, Hostin went on to insist, “There is this intersectionality between racism and sexism that was on full display at the White House. The crowd laughed at the statement and the President of the United States smirked and never addressed what was said.”
Concluding her angry tirade with a harumph about the “dignity” of America and our president, as if that is something she and her fellow clucking hens on “The View” care one lick about, Hostin snapped, “That is beneath the dignity of the office of the President of the United States, and it’s beneath the dignity of the American people.”

President Trump, on the other hand, was very positive about his UFC event, which celebrated his birthday. He said, “The UFC at the White House last night was incredible. The weather was scheduled to be horrendous, and it turned out to be PERFECT! So much for weather predicting. The Fighters were outstanding — Bo Nickal, Justin Gaethje, Ciryl Gane, Sean O’Malley, Josh Hokit, Mauricio Ruffy, and Diego Lopes were all unbelievable!”
He added, “Most people have never seen anything like that kind of human speed and power before. The White House has never looked more beautiful. The setting was unsurpassed! Congratulations to Dana White, and his unbelievable UFC. One of the most exciting days in the History of our fabled White House!”
