In an absolutely shocking moment from “The View” co-host Ana Navarro, she smeared those black musicians who performed for Trump at his inauguration as “trained seals, comments that quite infuriated many people online, particularly on X (formerly Twitter) who saw it as horribly insulting and quite rude.

In the clip at hand, Navarro pointed to one musician – Snoog Dogg – who was at the inauguration as a performer and went on the attack against him. Beginning, she said, “The thing that really, I think, was spotlighting Snoop is because of the things that Snoop Dogg said 10 days before the inaugural in 2017.

She continued, saying that it is not true that Trump has changed, something that many would disagree with given his tendency toward seriousness about policy so far, but rather that “you changed” and turned into a “trained seal.” She said, “And so look if, if you opposed and stood up against Trump in 2017 but you were there now. If you spoke up against Trump, January 7, 2021, but you were there now, applauding him like a trained seal, Donald Trump has not changed. You’ve changed.”

Chiming in, Alyssa Farah Griffin told Navarro that she really “agreed with Ilhan Omar on this” and that this might be the “first time [she] agreed with her.” Omar, for reference, said, “People are more upset at performers/artists attending Trump’s inaugural events but not upset at all the politicians who told them he was a ‘threat to democracy’ going to these events are not serious.”

Continuing, she slammed Democrats who showed up to the inauguration, contrasting them with paid performers and saying, “Performers at least know they are there to perform and get paid, but these politicians who ran their mouth for 4 yrs and are now willing to be there and clap for him, that’s who they should be mad at.”

She added, “They lied to you and your criticism/anger should be rightfully directed at them. Also, no one should ask people who are performers/artists to be loyal to a party because that’s what dictatorships do. In a free country like ours, people should be able to support any party they want without having their livelihood compromised.”

In any case, Navarro continued, saying, “I don’t come for the artists. And same way felt about Carrie Underwood. I think that people see it as part of American tradition to be part of this. They can issue statements if they want to clarify what their views are on Trump. I don’t like coming for the artists. I think if you feel like people need to be boycotting Donald Trump, which I disagree with, I’d go to the politicians. I mean, if Obama can show up for him, why shouldn’t they stop.” Watch that here:

Did The View’s Ana Navarro just refer to black artists who now support Trump as “trained seals?” Can you imagine the media outrage if Trump referred to black Americans in such a manner? But if you’re on the left, racist name-calling is perfectly acceptable. pic.twitter.com/66jAw6vVuX

Commenting on that, GOP figure Bill Mitchell said, “Did The View’s Ana Navarro just refer to black artists who now support Trump as “trained seals?” Can you imagine the media outrage if Trump referred to black Americans in such a manner? But if you’re on the left, racist name-calling is perfectly acceptable.”

Agreeing with Mitchell’s take on the matter and taking it a step further, one commenter said, “Yes Bill. She did call them “trained seals”. They did not get her approval or permission to change their minds about Trump. They – after all – are not “human,” apparently. They are rebellious “trained seals.”
