The main quest of Atomfall hinges on Atomic Batteries, but it’s not always obvious where to find them. Luckily, there are a few different ways and locations to get them.
Atomfall blurs the lines between main and side objectives as you’re exploring the Quarantine Zone, but the primary goal is always to power up The Interchange and access Oberon. To do this, you’ll need to restore power to four datastores using Atomic Batteries, making them the most valuable resource you’ll find in the Cumbrian countryside.
However, just like any other supply, they’re tricky to find and you’re often not given too many clues about where to look. So, here’s where to find Atomic Batteries in Atomfall to help you speed up your progress.
Casterfell Dam (Casterfell Woods)

Atomfall isn’t one for hand-holding, but it does give you two pretty solid leads on where to find the first two Atomic Batteries. When you first head into Datastore Charlie, a note explains that a shipment was sent to Casterfell Dam.
When you arrive and fight off the outlaws looking to pick it clean, you’ll probably spot the battery on a dead body surrounded by live electrical pylons. All you have to do is head into the control room, which we’ve marked on the map below, and pull the lever to direct the power elsewhere.
Then, simply head down and collect your reward without the risk of being fried.
Vehicle Storage Bunker (Skethermoor)

The second lead comes from Datastore Delta, which contains a note pointing you to a Vehicle Storage Bunker at the far side of Skethermoor. Unfortunately, the underground area is overrun with outlaws and there’s no way to tackle the encounter stealthily so make sure you have plenty of ammo and heals before heading inside.
Once cleared, poke around in the back rooms until you find the storage room key sitting on a desk. This unlocks the door in the back right corner, and once you head inside, the Atomic Battery can be seen sitting on the shelf.
B.A.R.D or Protocol robots (The Interchange)

If you’ve wandered into Wyndham Village or explored The interchange at all, you’ve probably come across the large robots that stomp around and shake the ground. What you might not have realized is that they’re actually powered by Atomic Batteries, which you can extract if you damage them enough.
The tricky part here is isolating one, as Protocol robots tend to be backed up by soldiers that will gun you down if you attack. Plus, the giant hunks of metal deal a ton of damage on their own, so you need to pick the right moment to go for the kill.
My advice would be to attack the B.A.R.D unit found in The Interchange outside Datastore Delta. If you disable the security turrets with the Signal Redirector, there will be nothing else around to interfere, so you can focus all your energy on the robot.
Hit it with a couple of grenades before it spots you to take down the majority of its health, then follow up with a few Rifle or Pistol shots to finish it off. Just make sure you’re in cover so you can hide from its machine guns.
Once you deal enough damage, the robot will be staggered as it tries to stop itself from overheating. At this point, run up behind and pull out the battery to add it to your inventory.
Trade with Nora (Skethermoor)
Most Atomic Batteries are found in the wild, but you can also get one pretty easily by trading with Nora in Skethermoor. She can be found in the top right-hand corner of the map inside the barn, which we’ve marked on the map below:
Simply speak to her to start trading items and you’ll spot the treasure you seek in her inventory, but you’ll need to part with plenty of gear to take it off her hands.
Unlike other games, Atomfall doesn’t have a currency you can scavenge. Instead, all of the items you carry have a unique value to that specific trader and you need to find an exchange that’s equal or favors the seller.
In Nora’s case, I found that she assigned lots of value to Learning Manuals and consumables rather than weapons. She drives a hard bargain, but it’s a quick and low-risk way to power up a datastore without having to scour the entire map.
The beauty of Atomfall is that all players have the freedom to tackle its story in any way or order they see fit. With that in mind, there are likely other Atomic Batteries tucked away in each area that we’re yet to find, so we’ll update this page as soon as we know more.
