White House Shares Crying Woman’s ICE Arrest As Studio Ghibli Picture

The White House has shared a Studio Ghibli-style illustration of a real-life convicted drug dealer in tears during her arrest by federal immigration agents.

The image was posted on a White House social media account hosted by X, formerly Twitter, along with photographs of the arrest.

The Drug Enforcement Administration initially arrested Basora-Gonzalez on June 6, 2019, and charged her in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania with attempted possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and aiding and abetting. After pleading guilty, she was sentenced on March 12, 2020, to 12 months and one day in confinement, followed by four years of supervised release.

ICE deported Basora-Gonzalez to the Dominican Republic on October 6, 2020.

It remains unknown when she reentered the country.
