Whoopi Goldberg claims she understands Trump voters because she's struggling financially too - despite owning a $16 million property portfolio.
The comedian, 69, cried poverty on The View this week as she complained that she is a 'working person' and her 'kid has to feed her family.'
'I appreciate that people are having a hard time, and me too - I work for a living,' Goldberg - real name Caryn Johnson - said. 'If I had all the money in the world I would not be here.'
But the Ghost and Sister Act star instantly raised eyebrows with the remark, with The Sun reporting in 2022 that she trousers $8 million a year just for hosting The View.
The EGOT also owns at least four fabulous homes; mansions in New Jersey and Upstate New York, a SoHo loft in NYC and colonial-style property in Connecticut.
Whoopi Goldberg claimed she and her family are struggling on The View this week, and was mocked for describing herself as a 'working class American' despite a huge fortune

She sold her Pacific Palisades mansion in 2022 for $8.8 million, earning her a cool $6 million profit.
Goldberg - who's one of only 21 people to win an Emmy, Oscar, Golden Globe and Tony Award - even went on to suggest that her offspring are struggling too.
'I'm a working person,' she continued in her rant. 'And my kid has to feed her family, and my great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family.
'I know it's hard out there, but I also know that there are a lot of things that we just said 'no, we're just going to go this way'', she said as she brushed her hands together.
'I love what she did, yay,' Goldberg said, seemingly talking about Kamala Harris' doomed candidacy.
'But we talk to people all the time who say this is what's bothering them. But the thing that's bothering everybody, should not be the thing that puts 85 percent of other people in danger.'
The remarks drew backlash from viewers who quickly pointed to Goldberg's reported net worth in the region of $45 million, slamming the Oscar-winning actress as 'tone deaf.'
'Doesn't she help her family then?' one questioned. 'I know if I was worth $45 million my family would never know what it is to struggle again.'
Goldberg also counts this $3 million New Jersey mansion in her real estate portfolio, which features amenities including a pool and gym across 425 acres
Viewers rejected Goldberg's attempt to cry poverty as they pointed to her fortune built up over decades in showbusiness, pictured with Pope Francis in June 2024
'She's got to be one of the most tone deaf celebrities I've ever seen,' said another.
'I truly don't know how anyone genuinely watches this lady except to mock her.'
Goldberg does come from a humble background, having grown up on a housing project in Manhattan - and she is self-made.
Her career took off like a rocket in the mid-80s, after a successful stint as a stand-up comic sparked a slew of Hollywood offers.
Goldberg played memorable roles in a string of iconic blockbusters, but says she retired from acting aged 55 after good scripts started to dry up.
And since gaining her fortune, one critic of her rant this week argued that her attitude 'is the whole problem with the Democrat elitist party.'
'They think they are down with the struggle while being worth millions of dollars.'
Goldberg has made no secret of her millions in the past, and drew headlines in 2018 when she put a stunning Pacific Palisades mansion on the market for $8.8 million - after buying it in 1994 for just $2.55 million.
The art deco home boasted an impressive, curved pool, five huge en-suite bathrooms and bedrooms, and views across the ocean.
Goldberg later moved to New Jersey to escape the hustle and bustle of New York City, and purchased a sprawling $3 million mansion.
The estate covered 425 acres and features a pool and gym, while being close enough to the city for Goldberg to commute in for The View.
