American parents fighting for school choice and parental rights are planning to hold President-elect Donald Trump to his campaign promise to destroy the Department of Education.
Tiffany Justice, the co-founder of Moms for Liberty spoke to DailyMail.com about what Trump's victory means for parents fighting for these basic rights for their kids and less government control.
‘I think [Trump] has a very clear mandate from the American people to shrink the size of government and to engage on the issues that are tearing the fabric of our country apart,’ Justice told DailyMail.com.
And although Justice is rumored to be on Trump's shortlist to become the head of the Education Department, she wouldn't mind being its last secretary.
She described the Department of Education’s efforts as ‘completely unconstitutional’ and said she would celebrate the end of the department particularly if Trump could send the money directly to the states.
‘Giving the power back to the people is the most important thing to education,’ she said. ‘Local control.’
Justice said she first met Trump at a summit two years ago and interviewed the president-elect at an event in August with her group to highlight issues that mattered to parents.
‘He really spoke directly to the moms, you could tell he understood what our concerns were and he was a very clear that parents know what’s best for their kids, not bureaucrats,’ she reflected.

Thank you @realDonaldTrump for giving me the opportunity to start the rally at Madison Square Garden with a prayer.
I was honored to be able to share these words of hope and encouragement with my fellow Americans.

Justice even did the 'Trump dance' with the former president after the event concluded, to the YMCA song that ends every event.
She also led the invocation at the Trump rally in Madison Square Garden just days before the election.
She praised Trump's support for fighting the ‘woke mind virus’ from being forced on children in public schools and saving girls' sports from biologically male transgender students
‘He’s just a common sense type of guy,’ she said, referring to Trump.
Justice said that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision to endorse Trump while promoting the Make America Healthy Again movement that also attracted mothers.
‘It was a really clear sign to moms and dads that what happened during COVID and the fact that our children have just been put on the back burner for so long that will no longer be the case we’ll be finally we’re finally able to prioritize children,’ she said.
Justice has said she would be ‘honored’ to serve in Trump’s administration, even as the Secretary of the Department of Education, but is focused in the meantime on the future of the parental rights in education movement.
Moms for Liberty began in 2021, as Justice, a mother of four on a county school board was frustrated on the efforts by the government to forced in a ‘woke’ agenda into the classroom.
On top of that, the group fought the Biden administration’s efforts to use Title IX to enforce policies allowing transgender students to play sports and use the bathrooms of their chosen identity rather than their biological gender.

She said she was not surprised that mothers embraced Trump’s message, especially on the issue of school choice.

‘The issues of school choice, especially because of COVID, there’s been a lot of awareness of school choice, the appetite for that is clear,’ she said. ’We need to prioritize children in America and parents are the number one driver of success.
The organization successfully sued the Brevard Public Schools for their policies banning ‘abusive,’ ‘personally directed’ or ‘obscene’ speech at public school board meetings.
The school board chair repeatedly stopped parents from using the terms ‘evil LGBTQ agenda,’ ‘libera left’’ and referred to a member hiding ‘behind a plastic prison’ referring to plexiglass barriers installed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Parents were also interrupted for reading sexually explicit books in school libraries direct at children, on the grounds they were ‘obscene.’
The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit ruled in favor of Moms for Liberty’s chapter in Brevard County, Florida.
