Wild video shows massive brawl on river sandbar: ‘The water and drinking don’t mix’

They got carried away at the (sand) bar.

Wild video shows dozens of people — mostly shirtless men — trading blows in an alcohol-fueled brawl on a river sandbar.

Five men and one woman have been arrested over the out-of-control fight in the middle of the Congaree River in Calhoun County, South Carolina, which left three people with“severe” injuries, cops said.

“The water and drinking don’t mix,” Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers told WIS-TV, confirming that boozing was a factor, with several also known to be drinking underage.

“To see that many people swinging, fighting, it could have been really, really, bad—and I’m sure there are injuries that we haven’t heard about. That’s just the nature of that type of beast.”

Explicative-laden video from the sandbar shows stumbling men in bathing suits and women in bikinis exchanging shoves and punches — and even one man being picked up and thrown on the ground.

Several boats can be seen parked along the sandbank as other bystanders filmed the chaos.

The three people injured suffered swelling to the eyes and other head injuries, Summers said, stressing, “The injuries were severe.”

The Jun 6. melee occurred during the Sparkleberry Duck Run, an annual event during which people can set up tents and duck boats along the river, according to WIS-TV.

The sandbar is a popular gathering place for participants.

Six people were arrested: Brendan Bonds, Hunter Dalzell, Lucas Scott, Edward Scott, Austin Mizzel and Taylor Knudson. Calhoun County Sheriff's Office

On Thursday, the sheriff’s office announced that it had arrested five men and one woman allegedly involved in the fight.

Those arrested were identified as Brendan Bonds, Hunter Dalzell, Lucas Scott, Edward Scott, Austin Mizzel and Taylor Knudson.

All are facing various degrees of assault charges.
