At least y’all got LeBron, Philly.

Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho and left wing Andrei Svechnikov both racked up a goal and an assist Sunday night, leading Carolina to a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

But for the latter, this wasn’t just your ordinary loss, this was their seventh consecutive defeat to begin the season — a franchise record. (RELATED: Raiders’ Fernando Mendoza Makes Official NFL Debut — Here’s How He Did)

Philadelphia is now 0-5-2, which breaks the mark set by the 1999-00 squad and tied by the team from the 2008-09 season. Each of those teams would rebound and go on to make the postseason.

For the Hurricanes, they’ve gotten at least one point in their 12th consecutive contest in the City of Brotherly Love. The defending Stanley Cup champions have now been victors in five straight games after losing their first two.

Hanging your hat on “well, the 1999-00 team turned it around” is the ultimate coping mechanism. (I saw some of you Philly fans doing this on social media, you know who you are.)

Sure, history says a 0-5-2 start isn’t a guaranteed death sentence. But hockey in 2026 isn’t hockey from the turn of the century. The Eastern Conference doesn’t just wait around for slow starters to wake up from a nap anymore.

Plus, the Flyers have been flat-out awful on both sides of the puck. The defense is porous, the offense dries up the second things get physical, it’s just been atrocious.

Note to the franchise: You can only lean on “Philadelphia grit” for so long before those fans start coming for your throat. I suggest you get out of this funk, and ASAP.
