U.S. — The online Reddit community of WNBA fans announced that it had officially banned any and all mention of "women."
From this point forward, any reference made by a user to the female sex in any capacity will result in an immediate and permanent suspension of the user from the WNBA community.
"All use of hateful terms such as 'she' or 'her' will be grounds for immediate expulsion," said community moderator Maple Donahue. "There will be no references whatsoever to what shall henceforth be known as the 'W-word.' Our Reddit is a safe, inclusive environment for all fans of the W... the, uh, basketball people league. Yeesh, almost slipped up there."
The policy change reportedly came in response to villainous online "trolls" who asked if the Women's National Basketball Association was a league for women. "There are unfortunately evil people out there who want to drive us apart with questions like these," explained Donahue. "But love will conquer the hate. The powers of intolerance and misogyny will not defeat this league of beautiful wome — sorry, beautiful humans. Ugh, I keep doing that."
At publishing time, the WNBA Reddit community had decided that to be extra safe it would also ban all references to "national," "basketball," or "association."
