An 85-year-old woman who has become a viral TikTok star thanks to her youthful complexion has shared the secret to her flawless skin - and revealed how she's achieved it with simple at-home remedies rather than fillers or Botox.
When beauty influencer Ava Lee first uploaded a video of her grandmother, 85-year-old Young-ja Joo, users were agog over her ageless appearance - demanding to know her secrets.
The content creator acknowledges that although genetics play a big part in what one's skin looked like, there are things you can do at home.
Ava recently shared the three things her grandmother does to achieve her 'glass skin' - which is how people describe skin that's flawless, radiant, and translucent complexion, or skin that resembles glass.
She said it came down to a healthy diet, protecting her skin from sun, and avoiding too many products.
'She always emphasizes to me that you always have to have a balance of greens, carbs, and protein,' Ava explained to Business Insider.
Ava said that one of her grandma's favorite protein sources is fish, which she eats at least four or five times a week.
Her second tip was to wear SPF every day, which Ava said her grandma has worn daily since she was in her 30s.

'Whenever she's out in the sun, ever since she was a teenager, she's always worn a hat, sunglasses, and something to protect her skin,' Ava added.
She continued: 'Even in the summer, she likes wearing a light long sleeve to protect her arms.'
Dr. Dendy, of New York's Shafer Clinic, told DailyMail.com previously that SPF is important because it protects our skin from harmful UV rays, prevents sunburn, lowers melanoma risk, and helps prevent premature skin aging caused by the sun.'
She explained that oftentimes, many people don't realize just how much the sun has damaged their skin until later in life, noting that it breaks down our collagen and elastin.
Having too much sun exposure and getting sunburnt can also increase your risk for skin cancer.
'If you experience five or more blistering sunburns before the age of 20 increases your risk of melanoma by 80 per cent,' Dr. Dendy warned.

Young-ja also keeps her skincare routine simple, using only 'hydrating moisturizers made by affordable Korean brands.'

In 2024, a beauty guru revealed a simple DIY product that she claimed will leave you with perfect glass-like skin - without having to fork out big bucks on Botox or other pricey treatments.
The Glass Skin Secret TikTok account shared a video showcasing a woman, who makes beauty tutorials as MehGlow, creating a DIY at-home mask she claimed was 'better than Botox.'
The beauty guru, who has perfectly clear, youthful skin, shared the clip, with commenters wanted detail on how to create an easy, inexpensive treatment - made with just coconut oil and aloe vera.
MehGlow shared a video as she applied a simple clear gel mask, which she had made herself, to her face.
The ingredients included a spoonful of ultra-hydrating aloe vera gel and a spoonful of coconut oil mixed together in a mug, until it develops a jelly-like consistency.
According to Healthline, coconut oil can help with inflammation and acne while keeping skin hydrated, while aloe vera absorbs easily into dry skin and can seal moisture in for that 'glass skin' effect that's all the rage on social media. The gel within the thick leaves of the plant is known for its many soothing benefits, including preventing wrinkles.
