Woman attacked in Hilliard store restroom fights off assailant with family's help

Hilliard police said a 60-year-old woman was attacked last Friday inside the restroom of a local store.
The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the At Home store on the 3500 block of Park Mill Run Drive.
The woman was assaulted by an unknown man, later identified as 26-year-old Mohamed Camara, of Columbus. Camara allegedly tried to strangle the woman and cover her mouth.
However, she fought back and managed to get the attention of her family, who rushed to her aid. The family then called 911 and detained Camara until officers arrived.
After reviewing store surveillance cameras, police say Camara was seen following the woman around the store before she went into the bathroom.
Camara has been charged with kidnapping, a first-degree felony. Police say additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
On Thursday, store-goers told ABC6 the incident is shocking and it's giving them new perspective.
"How many times do you say, I will meet up with you, I am going to the bathroom and I’ll meet up with you on aisle 12," At HomeshopperRandi Rasar said. "Hearing this about At Home, a decorating store, you are like, oh my gosh, this is women’s territory here. My head is on a swivel now."
Hilliard police are reminding the community to "be aware of your surroundings, whether that’s in a store, a parking lot, a familiar place or an unfamiliar place. Be assertive, be vigilant, follow your gut instinct and don’t be afraid to scream 'no.'"

I would hope "detained" meant they watched over his lifeless body, because had it been my family that would be the case.

There’s a rather large Somalian contingency in Columbus, though used to be they moved to the east side of town. Hilliard is on the west side. However, by car, it’s just a 20 minute drive.
