A Florida woman who came to the Big Apple to visit her sister vanished in broad daylight Monday after she escaped from the back of an ambulance – while wearing scrubs, police sources said.
Josyln Garrido, 40, of Kissimmee was being transported from Weill Cornell Medical Center on the Upper East Side to White Plains Hospital when she jumped out of the private ambulance, which was stopped in traffic, the sources said.
Garrido, who was wearing a blue scrub top and gray sweatpants, ran off around 12:30 p.m. and hasn’t been seen since, cops said.
Garrido was visiting her sister in the city, and her reason for seeking medical care is unclear, the sources said.
She is described as a Hispanic female with a light complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, standing around 5-foot-6, and weighing 150 pounds.
The NYPD released a photo of her Monday night.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
