Some perfumes are meant to attract members of the opposite sex, but it's possible that there are certain scents that are universally disliked by men.

TikTok content creator Gabby Jay, 30, in Massachusetts, shared a now viral video where she asked her followers to recommend scents men hate.

Gabby wrote, 'Hey ladies, what perfumes do you love that men seem to hate?' asking her followers for ideas.

The artist, author, and therapist continued, 'I'm trying to repulse men. I don't want their compliments.

'Give me all the recs. I'm here for the girls, gays, and theys only.'

Women raced to the comments to share the scents men seemed to despise - including patchouli, powdery florals, and cherry, as well as ones they liked, including warm vanilla.

'They HATE patchouli but it smells so good to me,' one commenter responded, as another added, 'Guys seem to hate those musky incense smells.'

'Patchouli, cedar, teakwood, ANYTHING AGGRESSIVELY EARTHY they seem to hate -coming from someone who's had several experiences with men not liking what I'm wearing,' another woman agreed.

'Women love my cherry perfume. Men seem to hate it. I wear Not Another Cherry by Fine'ry,' one commenter explained about the affordable Target option (left)

'I love powdery florals, men always hate them bc they smell like "old lady perfume,"' another woman weighed in.

'Women love my cherry perfume. Men seem to hate it. I wear Not Another Cherry by Fine'ry,' one commenter explained about the affordable Target option.

Not Another Cherry is described as a 'seductive and lush' mixture of 'glazed cherries and rose' and is considered a dupe for the $255 Tom Ford Lost Cherry.

Some people have compared the smell of the original Tom Ford scent to embalming fluid

That wasn't the only strong Tom Ford scent on the list.

'Black Orchid, Tom Ford. The only man who complimented me on it was my gay best friend. It EXUDES confidence.

'It's deep and musky and masculine,' another comment read about the designer scent, which starts at $160 and goes up to $240.

Many women in the comments said that men tended to avoid overly sweet scents.

One woman wrote, 'If it most men it's any older classic perfume aka 'old lady' perfume but if it's specific man find out what his grandmother wears' (stock image)

Chanel perfumes topped the list, including the $138 Coco Mademoiselle, playing into the classic perfume category

Women raced to the comments to share the scents men seemed to despise - including patchouli, powdery florals, and cherry, as well as ones they liked, including warm vanilla

'I have this cheap dollar general perfume that smells like cotton candy. I get SOO MANY compliments from girls but my guy friends say it's "too sweet." It lasts all day and it's SCRUMPTIOUS,' a commenter claimed.

'This sounds weird but every man I've met hates the sweeter scents(vanilla, ginger, powdery) and they like florals so I would say anything super sweet!' a woman agreed.

Some women wondered if men disliking scents was tied to memory, with one writing, 'If it most men it's any older classic perfume aka "old lady" perfume but if it's specific man find out what his grandmother wears.'

Chanel perfumes also topped the list, including the $138 Coco Mademoiselle, playing into the classic 'old lady' perfume category.

Some pointed out that men tend to like vanilla scents, with one writing, 'grapefruit, cherry blossom, and vanilla are popular notes for them so avoid those then.'
