‘You Ignorant Fool’: Megyn Unloads on WNBA Coaches for Trashing Sophie Cunningham and Harming Women’s Sports

There is a growing controversy in the WNBA over men and women’s sports and, I gotta tell you, I have a lot of thoughts on this. Sophie Cunningham has shown incredible courage, Caitlin Clark has not, and these women’s coaches are absolute cowards.

The Locker Room Debate

A couple of coaches have spoken out against Sophie Cunningham’s comments about protecting women’s sports, and a couple of coaches have punted, afraid to say anything. First up, Minnesota Lynx coach and president of basketball operations Cheryl Reeve, who is very upset with Sophie.

REEVE: Number one, we need to uh protect trans kids. Every kid– to me, it’s a human’s rights issue. Every kid has a right to sports regardless of, uh, gender diverse, uh, transgender. Every kid has the right to access. Um, now what gets nuanced is, you know, when you’re beyond puberty, when you’re an Olympic sport, when you’re, you know, have scholarship system and that sort of thing. That’s where I say that common sense people get together and you find common ground to find a way to be inclusive. The answer isn’t no. Uh, it is not the case that we have, quote, biological men in girl’s locker rooms, the way it’s being phrased, the innuendo there that somehow uh transgender women are predators of some kind in the locker room. There’s a lot of narrative that is problematic that we need to address. Uh that is simply not what’s happening.

You don’t know anything. You are an ignorant fool. You should take a seat, madam, and stop speaking about this. There are biological men in women’s locker rooms. Why don’t you take two minutes and listen to Riley Gaines’ account of what it was like swimming against Lia Thomas in the NCAA championships? Ask any member of the UPenn women’s swim team from two years ago, who were told they needed to get therapy when they said they did not want to change into their bathing suits in front of an intact male, Will Thomas, who changed his name to Lia and was prancing around with his penis out in their locker room, you absolute ignorant fool! 

I just think we should be inclusive of whom? Truly. Are Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham required to be inclusive of LeBron James? Answer the damn question. Are they #PartOfTheProblem if they say no to someone of that size and strength coming into their locker room and playing against them on the basketball court because they are not going to be “inclusive” in your world? That’s what we are talking about. 

This Cheryl Reeve is an ignorant person and should stop talking. “It is not the case that we have, quote, biological men in girl’s locker rooms, the way it’s being phrased, the innuendo there that somehow transgender women are predators of some kind in the locker room.” Here’s another thing, Cheryl: A large percentage of them are not in the women’s locker room because they think they are women; they are there because they suffer from a condition known as autogynephilia. This condition is a sexual fetish that causes you to become erect and get turned on as an intact male by showing yourself dressed as a woman to other women. They are working out a sexual fetish. 

How dare you lecture these women on being inclusive. These old hags are sitting on the sidelines trying to tell these young, beautiful women: You just sit there and be part of this fetish. You’re a bigot if you call them out. You’re disgusting. You’re not inclusive. You’re nasty. You’re gonna get booed. 

And all the fans who appear to be part of the LGBTQ brigade will deliver on exactly that promise and boo Sophie Cunningham every time she comes on the court or scare Caitlin Clark out of being the leader she can be and taking a stance on the most obvious women’s civil rights issue of our time.

The Truth About ‘Inclusivity’

It is why Clay Travis of OutKick posted on X that he wants to see the WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces play a boy’s high school state title team of his choice. He said he would give the Aces $10 million if they win.

That is what needs to happen because that is the kind of display that just shows how absurd this is and how absurd what you are asking these women to accept is – physical harm; unfairness at the lower levels; the loss of scholarship; the loss of the glorious feeling of accomplishment; and then, when they dare speak up, you shame them as bigots; or in the case of women who haven’t consistently held this position, you shame them for being inconsistent. 

It is beyond time for everyone to be speaking out about this issue. It is plain as the nose on your face. Everyone who looks at it knows how unfair it is. The picture of Lia Thomas next to all the young women at the NCAA’s brought it home more than any other. If you are still pretending that this is an issue fairest to the trans athlete, you are a dishonest liar. You should not be listened to. 

We also had Golden State Valkyries coach Natalie Nakase weigh in. This is who Clay Travis was apparently responding to, and here is what she had to say:

NAKASE: Just in terms of how I’m seeing it is, if I can answer with like, for me, sports, sports is about belonging. It’s about inclusivity. It’s about allowing everyone to be their authentic self. You know, I’m big on that, just because I have been criticized for my height, for my ethnicity. I’ve been in those ‘you shouldn’t belong here’ many times. And for me, I don’t want that space, especially Golden State, to ever feel like that. So I’m all about women, little girls deserving to play, and that includes trans women. So I’m all about inclusivity.

You are an idiot. “I’m all about belonging and inclusivity.” Watch the video of the girls basketball team in Lowell, Massachusetts, who forfeited after several players were hurt by a biological male on the opposing team. You tell it to them, Natalie. Look at the girl get thrown to the ground and repeatedly try to get back up but she can’t because she is in pain. 

This is by far not the only example. There are many other examples of this happening. How dare you sit there in your air-conditioned press conference and say it is about inclusivity because she has been attacked because of her height?! Are you kidding me? It is what we call a non sequitur.

Lack of Leadership

I just can’t get over the absence of courage. Sports are supposed to encourage leadership. When Caitlin Clark told reporters in Sunday’s post-game presser that leagues should work with athletes “to find solutions” regarding trans girls and women in sports, she was sitting next to her head coach Stephanie White. Here was White’s take:

REPORTER: What is your stance on men or athletes who tested biological male participating in women’s sports? What’s your personal stance?

WHITE: Yeah, I mean, I don’t know that I would say that I’m educated enough from a scientific standpoint. I don’t ever believe that exclusion is an answer. I just don’t. I do think, you know, when we think about various levels of sport, various governing bodies of sport, and things that go into that, like I said, I’m not, I’m not educated enough at the different levels. I know, growing up, I played with the boys all the time. There weren’t girls sports back then.

REPORTER: So, would you welcome a biological male in the NBA? 

WHITE: Again, it’s like I don’t know when we talk about biological male and scientifically where we are, I think it’s a totally different scenario. You know, as I said, I’m not educated enough in, in terms of, of transgender and transitioning to give you, to give you a smart answer.

That is so dishonest. First of all, she is not educated enough? Boys have penises; girls have vaginas. There, I educated you. Now you understand there is a difference between the two. 

And that nonsense about “I used to play with the boys all the time.” Me too. I grew up in the 70s. There were no girl sports. I played with boys all the time in sports leagues and beyond. And then you know what happens? You get to the pubescent level and that stops because even back then they understood that there would be a danger to the girls in playing against the boys. By the way, all the studies now actually show that there is a male advantage even pre-puberty, but they are very pronounced post-pubescent.

It is very different for her to join a men’s pickup game as the only woman because she was a star athlete in her own right as a basketball player. Very different. How are the men going to treat her? They are not going to give it to her the way they give it to each other. They are going to understand she is a woman. They are going to have respect for her physically. They are going to let her shoot in a way they might not a male competitor. They are definitely not going to be as rough on her because most men are not complete cads and would understand that, when playing against a woman, there are certain things you do and don’t do. 

That is totally different from inviting a man into a women’s league, pretending that he is one of them, and saying ‘have at them.’

A Closer Look at the Numbers

And a final point to all those suggesting this is some fringe issue that doesn’t affect that many girls. First of all, it is irrelevant how many girls this is happening to. One is enough. One girl, like Payton McNabb, with brain damage as a result of a man posing as a woman nailing her in the head with a volleyball is enough. That is not the relevant question. Stop asking that. The answer is clearly: There are enough. 

How many would be enough for the doubters? Does my daughter have to get hurt? Does your daughter have to get hurt? How many? One is enough. That is the actual answer. Also, if it is just a just a few and we are not hurting many trans people, why not just ban them and move on, right? 

There are significant numbers of girls getting hurt, having unfairness injected into their sport, and potentially losing scholarships and medals like we saw in the Olympics and so on. Here is some data we pulled from January 2025. It’s from a pro-trans outlet called Outsports, who, if anything, has a reason to understate the number of trans athletes playing in college sports. 

Outsports states that there have been well over 40 out trans athletes competing in college sports. “Outsports knows of over three dozen out trans athletes from college sports who have been out publicly while competing, all in the last decade,” the January 2025 article reads.

They go on to say three of these trans people have won a national championship: Lia Thomas in swimming, CeCé Telfer in track and field, and Braeden Abrahamsen and bowling. Several others have earned conference honors that did not belong to them, that were supposed to go to women. 

As for high schoolers, UCLA School of Law estimated in February 2025 there were as many as 122,000 ‘transgender’ youth athletes, ages 13 to 17, participating in high school-level team athletics. 

A United Nations study revealed in October 2024 that trans athletes have won nearly 900 medals in women’s competition. These wins happened in over 400 competitions in 29 sports. The study concluded that “male athletes have specific attributes considered advantageous in certain sports, such as strength and testosterone levels that are higher than those of the average range for females, even before puberty, thereby resulting in the loss of fair opportunity.” As such, “some sports federations mandate testosterone suppression for athletes in order to qualify for female categories in elite sports.”

That is from the United Nations, which is not exactly known for their fair and balanced take on any issue.
