YouTube star Charlie ‘MoistCr1TiKaL’ White is teaming up with Jagex and Lyrical Animation to develop an animated series based on RuneScape.
The longtime RuneScape player’s Meatier Productions will produce the project alongside Lyrical Animation, bringing him into an adaptation of the fantasy world of Gielinor.
It follows his recently announced Godslap animated movie, which reunites the same production companies. That film is already in production and targeting a 2028 release, with Powerhouse Animation Studios handling its hand-drawn animation.
RuneScape animated series promises more details in 2027
CEO Jon Bellamy revealed the project at RuneFest in Birmingham on October 3, following the Old School RuneScape keynote.
Jagex“When we talk about the future of RuneScape, we don’t just mean games,” Bellamy said.
“We see huge potential to bring Gielinor to life in new ways, both for the millions who already know and love it and for a whole new audience. It’s early days, but we’re excited to explore that potential with Charlie and the team at Lyrical Animation, and we wanted our players to be the first to know.”
He explained that the studio wants to introduce Gielinor to new audiences while giving existing players another way to experience its world. Development is still at an early stage, with further details coming in 2027.
The announcement does not name a streaming platform, voice cast or release date. That means 2027 is the next promised update, rather than a confirmed premiere window.
“Runescape has such a unique storytelling voice, at once laugh-out-loud funny and effortlessly insightful,” Daniel Dominguez, Creative Director of Lyrical Animation added. “To be allowed to help bring that to life for its millions of fans alongside our dear friend Charlie again is a dream come true.”
The project adds another expansion to a franchise that has already branched into survival gaming with RuneScape Dragonwilds.
For MoistCr1TiKaL, RuneScape marks another animation project alongside Godslap. Lyrical is also developing a Bloodborne adaptation with fellow YouTuber Jacksepticeye.
