A Pokemon YouTuber has left collectors stunned after opening an unreleased 30th Anniversary box before directing viewers to a listing charging more than $2,000 for the same product.

Pokemon’s highly anticipated 30th Celebration expansion launches worldwide on September 16, but its headline Ultra-Premium Collections will not officially arrive until November.

Despite that, creator Natalie Roush has already managed to get her hands on both the Day and Night versions.

In a YouTube Short titled “Opening 30th anniversary UPC,” Roush held up both unreleased boxes before opening the Night edition, which features Umbreon.

The video included several notable pulls, including two copies of the set’s Magikarp card, one of which Roush valued at $320 raw.

What really caught collectors’ attention was the “Shop” button attached to Roush’s Short.

YouTube labeled the video as “Earns commission,” indicating Roush could receive a cut from purchases made through its product link.

That link directed viewers to a GOAT marketplace listing for the Night Ultra-Premium Collection priced at $2,262. The listing also displays the product’s official November 6 release date, meaning buyers are not being promised the same early access Roush received.

Roush is not personally listed as the merchant, with the product instead being sold through GOAT’s marketplace.

However, the $2,262 asking price is more than 12 times its $179.99 retail price. Even heavily inflated presale listings on TCGplayer currently begin at around $665.

Collectors question how Roush got unreleased Pokemon boxes

The Pokemon Company says the Day and Night Ultra-Premium Collections will officially launch on November 6.

Each contains 29 standard 30th Celebration booster packs, one Classic Collection pack, a Pikachu promo and either an Espeon or Umbreon promo alongside several accessories.

Roush therefore opened the Night collection almost two months before customers are supposed to be able to buy one.

“How are people still unboxing the Pokemon 30th Anniversary UPC?” one collector asked. “At this point I need to know where these UPCs are coming from.”

This is not the first controversy involving 30th Celebration products appearing prematurely. Pokemon previously targeted early eBay listings due to concerns about products entering the market outside authorized distribution channels.

There is currently no evidence that Roush stole the boxes or knew of any potential issue surrounding their origin. It remains unclear how she obtained the retail products so far ahead of their scheduled release.
