Algeria and Morocco have booked their places at the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil after reaching the semifinals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Algeria made history with a 2-1 comeback victory over 10-player Côte d’Ivoire in Casablanca, earning its first-ever place at the global tournament. Morocco, meanwhile, defeated former champions South Africa 2-1 in Rabat to return to the World Cup after appearing at the 2023 edition. The four WAFCON semifinalists automatically qualify for next year’s tournament. However, Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa still have a path to qualification through FIFA’s inter-confederation playoffs.
