Andy Burnham has completed the Great North Run as he becomes the first sitting Prime Minister to take part.
The PM ran the famous route from Newcastle to South Shields wearing a pink running shirt and a race bib bearing the number 10, raising funds for the homelessness charity Changing Lives.
He visited the organisation last month as part of the launch of a nationwide initiative to tackle rough sleeping.
Mr Burnham, a veteran of the event, having previously taken part in 2021, 2023 and 2024, registered for this year's race at the beginning of 2026 while still serving as mayor of Greater Manchester.
He described the occasion as a "fantastic event" that "gives you such a belief in the people of this country".
Before the race, Mr Burnham told the BBC that he had resolved not to let his new role change who he was.
He said: "People said to me when I became Prime Minister: 'Don't change.'
"I've been doing the Great North Run for a few years, so I thought: 'Well, I'll live that now. I won't change. I'll come and do it again.'"

He said everyone should engage in some form of physical activity, adding that he wanted to lead from the front.
The PM acknowledged that his training regime had attracted media attention, but reassured the crowds that his infamous running shorts had been left behind in Manchester.
He joked: "I couldn't offend all of the great people of the North East," confirming he had purchased a fresh pair for the occasion."
Talking about the parallels with his political role, he added: "When I'm doing my job, I can hardly give up halfway round, can I?"

Sir Brendan Foster, the event's founder and president, hailed the day as a landmark moment in the run's history.
He said: "Since our first event in 1981, we've seen countless special moments and incredible feats, and today was no different.
"Our biggest ever Great North Run, over £25million raised for many worthy causes and our current Prime Minister on the start line, what a way to celebrate the Great North Run's 45th anniversary."
A total of 63,000 runners took to the course, making it the largest field in the event's history.

Taking part in a personal capacity, Mr Burnham used the occasion to champion the North East, noting the region "doesn't always get the attention it deserves" and welcoming the national spotlight on "this wonderful part of the world".
Mr Burnham has also backed the charity financially, donating 15 per cent of his first month's prime ministerial salary to Changing Lives as part of a pledge to give a portion of his earnings to charitable causes each month.
Stephen Bell, the charity's chief executive, welcomed the PM's support.
He said: "When he visited our service in Newcastle, he heard directly from people about their experiences of homelessness and the support that has helped them move forward.
"A safe place to stay is the start. People also need someone they can trust, practical help and support that continues as they rebuild their lives."
