Angel Reese makes history during Atlanta Dream victory... but fans turn on her for elbowing opponent

Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese set a new WNBA record on Monday evening after a win over the Los Angeles Sparks, but she's also under the microscope for a foul in the paint on an opponent.

Reese and the playoff-bound Dream were able to handle the lowly Sparks as they won 78-71 in their most recent contest.

She finished the night with a 4-for-14 shooting line, 11 points and a new benchmark 26 rebounds as she towered over her opponents.

The rebounding mark not only set a new single-game record for rebounds, but also put Reese ahead of A'ja Wilson's 2024 mark to set a new single-season record in the statistical category.

But at one point in the first quarter, as she was posted up against Sparks forward Dearica Hamby, she was seen elbowing Hamby in the chest to get better position.

Reese was, correctly, called for a foul on the play and was seen walking away from the situation and was caught saying, 'I don't give a f***.'

Despite her heralded night, Reese's haters jumped on the chance to sling mud against her on social media.

'Yeah I don't understand her anymore. I think she needs to either take some time off or just go do something else,' wrote one user on X.

Another posted, 'Bench her! Behavior unbecoming to her team and the league. These actions have no place in team sports. Why are we putting up with this poop?'

'Shes a horrible person Why do you idiots allow this s*** @WNBA she is not team USA worthy pick someone else,' read another comment.

One person believes, 'she clearly does not know how to play the game the right way.'

Reese remains one of the top defensive players in the WNBA, leading in rebounds and sitting third in steals behind Dream teammates Rhyne Howard and Jordin Canada.

The Dream remain the top team in the WNBA's Eastern Conference, sitting half a game ahead of Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever.
