Barack and Michelle Obama opted for a different way to wish Americans a Happy Thanksgiving.

They brought in one of their family members to deliver the message.

The former first couple featured their Portuguese Water dog Sunny on their social media accounts to mark the occasion.

'From our family (and Sunny!) to yours, wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving!,' the caption read.

Sunny wore a black and orange checked kerchief that read 'Happy Turkey Day.'

The Obamas got Sunny as a puppy in 2013 when Barack Obama was president.

She caused a few incidents during her reign as first dog.

The same year she arrived at the White House, Sunny, at a military family arts and crafts event, knocked over a 2-year-old girl. The child was unhurt.

The pup was purchased as a companion to five-year-old Bo, the Portuguese Water dog the Obamas received after first inauguration – a campaign promise kept, with an assist from the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D) of Massachusetts, who sent the dog as a gift.

Bo died of cancer in May 2021 at the age of 12.

The Obamas are likely spending Thursday with their will daughters, Malia and Sasha, 26 and 23.

The girls were were always present when their dad, as president, conducted the annual turkey pardon.

In 2014, the internet had a chuckle when Sasha and Malia, then teenagers looked embarrassed at the event, during which Obama cracked multiple dad jokes.

The next year, which was the Obamas last turkey pardoning, the girls put on a happy face as Obama regaled the audience with dad jokes.

'It is hard to believe that this is my seventh year of pardoning a turkey,' the president told the crowd. 'Time flies, even if turkeys don't.'

'That was good, that was good,' said Sasha Obama.

'I thought it was pretty good,' the president said back.
