Boeing ditches controversial DEI policies

CV NEWSFEED // Conservative scholar and author Christopher Rufo on Thursday reported that Boeing was taking steps to eliminate its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) department.

“WINNING,” Rufo wrote. “Boeing has abolished its DEI department.”

“Earlier this year, we published a story showing how DEI was undermining competence at the company,” continued Rufo. “Insiders tell us it helped put pressure on the new CEO, who made the decision to shutter the department.”

Rufo was joined by conservative American filmmaker Robby Starbuck in celebrating the DEI overhaul. Starbuck took credit for the change in an X post amid his campaign to rid corporate America of controversial left-wing policies.

“Big News,” wrote Starbuck:

Weeks ago I notified @Boeing’s new CEO and the Chairman of Boeing’s board that I was planning to expose their woke policies. Today they’re making a BIG preemptive change.

Bloomberg reports that Boeing is DISMANTLING their DEI department and the Boeing VP in charge of that department had her last day today.

Our campaigns are so effective that we’re getting some of the biggest corporations on earth to change their policies without me even posting a video first just from the fear they have of being the next company we expose. The landscape of corporate America is quickly shifting to sanity and neutrality. We are the trend now, not the anomaly. 

Starbuck highlighted his numerous successes in changing corporate policies in America.

“So far you’ve helped us change corporate policy at Tractor Supply, John Deere, Harley Davidson, Polaris, Indian Motorcycle, Lowe’s, Ford, Coor, Stanley Black & Decker, Caterpillar, Toyota, and now Boeing,” wrote the activist.

In the X post, Starbuck included a video that showcased his emails to Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg regarding the company’s DEI policies, as well as details from a Bloomberg News article that broke the story. 

The Bloomberg article stated:

Boeing Co. has dismantled its global diversity, equity, and inclusion department, making it the latest high-profile corporation to make changes to its DEl policy as its new top leader oversees a broader revamp of the company’s workforce.

Staff from Boeing’s DEI office will be combined with another human resources team focused on talent and employee experience, according to people familiar with the matter. Sara Liang Bowen, a Boeing vice president who led the now-defunct department, left the company on Thursday.

According to Starbuck, Sara Liang Bowen released a statement on LinkedIn explaining how proud she was of the former DEI team. “The team achieved so much — sometimes imperfectly, never easily — and dreamed of doing much more still.”

“It has been the privilege of my lifetime to lead Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the Boeing company these past 5+ years,” continued Bowen. “Our team strived every day to support the evolving brilliance and creativity of our workforce.”

“Well, those dreams are dashed, it’s not happening, the DEI department has been dismantled,” quipped Starbuck in a video. “We’re a force to be reckoned with and we won’t stop until wokeness is extinct.”
