CV NEWS FEED // According to a Republican insider, many voters do not believe that Kamala Harris’ Democratic Party supports some of the far-left policies they are on record supporting.
The corporate media’s apparent bias in favor of Democrats at the expense of former President Donald Trump’s Republican Party may be to blame for the disconnect between what voters think Democrats stand for and what they actually support, the insider noted.
In a piece this past week for Tablet magazine titled “The Democrats’ Insanity Defense,” Park MacDougald highlighted what he described on X (formerly Twitter) as “a major problem for Republicans in the Trump era.”
“Voters struggle to believe that the Democrats have moved as far left as they actually have,” MacDougald summarized.
The writer cited an anonymous staffer for a Republican congressional candidate.
Per MacDougald, the staffer explained “that one problem his campaign regularly faces is that aspects of Democratic governance are simply too insane for voters to find credible, even when they are documented as official U.S. government policy.”
The Republican had told MacDougald:
When you outline the Democratic agenda, you have to water it down, because in both polling and focus groups, people just don’t believe it.
They are critical of things like boys in girls’ sports, but they tune out stuff about schools not informing parents about transitioning their children. They just don’t believe it’s true. It can’t be.
Also in his article, MacDougald indicated that the disconnect between voters’ perception and the reality of the Democratic Party’s positions has increased since Trump first became the Republicans’ standard-bearer.
MacDougald outlined what he called “a pattern that has played out countless times since Trump entered American political life.”
“Trump says something seemingly insane, to many people’s outrage and disbelief, only to have his supposed ‘lie’ revealed to be wholly or at least significantly true,” the writer explained:
Often the specific truth revealed … is in fact “crazier” than Trump’s exaggerations or garbling of the details. The insanity of the policy becomes the front line of defense against potential blowback: Who would believe that anyone would actually propose or support something so obviously at odds with public opinion and basic common sense? Trump must be a raving nutjob, just like we told you he was.
MacDougald went on to argue that anti-Trump media bias is a major cause for this pattern.
“The reason that this strategy has worked is because Democrats rely on all nonexplicitly right-wing media to adopt their framing of issues and cite the party’s preferred experts, which they do,” he wrote.
The Democratic Party’s “influence over the country’s communications apparatus has, for the past decade, emerged into something like a political superpower, allowing it to act outside the normal bounds of American politics without suffering from political blowback,” added MacDougald.
On this point, the Republican staffer said, “All of it is insulated by [the Democrats’] absolute confidence that they can just use their control over communications institutions to just say words, including change of language, right?”
“Flip a switch and it’s now gender affirming care,” he illustrated. “Flip a switch and it’s now undocumented migrants, or undocumented Americans. Flip a switch and now you can change people’s pronouns.”

In August, the Media Research Center (MRC), a watchdog group that monitors alleged left-wing media bias, released the results of a poll it conducted on voters who backed the Biden-Harris ticket four years ago.
MRC’s Rich Noyes wrote at the time that the poll found “large majorities of registered Democrats and Independents who voted for Joe Biden in 2020 … are mostly in the dark about many of the controversial and radical positions Harris has taken.”
Noyes elaborated:
When asked about ten different aspects of Harris’s public record — on issues as varied as her sponsorship of the Green New Deal, abolishing ICE, and eliminating private health insurance — between 71% and 86% of these Democrats and Independents said they either had not heard of Harris’s position or were unsure.
>> POLL: VAST MAJORITY OF BIDEN-HARRIS VOTERS UNAWARE OF CONTROVERSIAL HARRIS POSITIONS <<
Dr. Susan Berry analyzed the MRC poll’s results for CatholicVote in August:
On Harris being rated the most liberal U.S. senator in 2019, 25% said they were aware, while 75% said they were not.
Regarding Harris’ statement that entering the U.S. illegally should not be considered a crime, 26% said they were aware of her view, while 74% said they were not.
…
Regarding Harris’ support for cutting police funding, 29% said they were aware, while 71% said they were not.
This past week, Noyes penned a report for MRC indicating that coverage of the 2024 presidential election by the “Big Three” television networks “is the most slanted in history.”
Noyes wrote:
Since July, ABC, CBS and NBC have treated Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris to 78 percent positive coverage, while these same networks have pummeled former Republican President Donald Trump with 85 percent negative coverage.
