No surprises here.
Major League Baseball handed out another set of awards Wednesday night, with Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale and Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal being named the 2024 National League and American League Cy Young Award winners, respectively.

Sale’s first campaign with the Braves was absolutely incredible, with the left-handed 35-year-old putting up an elite 18-3 record and 2.38 ERA, while also recording 225 strikeouts and a 1.01 WHIP. Finishing in the top five in Cy Young voting for the sixth time in his career, it’s the first award that he’s won.
On the flip side, Skubal put himself on the map in the 2024 campaign, putting up his first All-Star season. His performance was mesmerizing, tallying a stat line of 18-4, 2.39 ERA, 228 strikeouts and a 0.92 WHIP. Only 27 years old and still in his prime, it was a dominant season for Skubal, evident by his new trophy.

It’s no shocker that Chris Sale and Tarik Skubal won the Cy Young Awards, they were clearly the best pitchers all season long — who else were you gonna give it to?
