The host of the Call Her Daddy podcast has roasted Kamala Harris for spending $100,000 on a fake 'cardboard' set for their presidential campaign interview.

Alex Cooper, whose show is the fourth most popular podcast in the US, said she was baffled to discover how much the set cost which she claimed 'wasn't that nice'.

During Harris' surprise October 6 appearance on the podcast, Ms Cooper said the Democratic campaign rebuilt the set in a 'random house' reportedly at the cost of $100,000 from her $1billion war chest.

In a recent interview at the New York Time's DealBook Summit, the 30-year-old said: 'My studio that is gorgeous in Los Angeles doesn't even cost six figures, so I don't know how cardboard walls could cost six figures.

'With love to them, it was gorgeous, but it wasn't that nice.'

Vice President Harris' failed bid for the presidency has been heavily criticised for the large amount of money the short 100 day campaign spent.

This included an eye-watering $494million on advertising alone. The New York Post reported that $900,000 was spent on a huge presidential advert on the Las Vegas Sphere.

Despite this expensive splurge, Harris lost Nevada making President-elect Trump the first Republican candidate to carry the state since 2004.

Ms Cooper has been heavily criticised for what many listeners called her softball interview with the Democratic nominee.

The podcast host faced backlash for failing to discuss issues such as illegal immigration or President Biden's handling of Hurricane Helene -  which had caused devastation across the south of America just days earlier.

Ms Cooper has since defended the episode. She said: 'They reached out to me and I recognized that maybe in a different election it wouldn’t be the case and who knows in future elections what I’ll do.

'But in this specific election the entire focus is on women’s bodies and we’re losing rights by the day, and so, to have the most popular female podcast, where most women listen to the show in the country, it felt like a no-brainer.

Ms Cooper said she previously made it a point to avoid politics on her show, but came to the decision to sit down with Harris.

She said she hesitated at first, but agreed after asking herself: 'How as a woman am I not going to do this?

'How am I going to look back at myself one day if I ever have children, and look back at this decision? I'm really proud I did it.'

Ms Cooper also recently revealed that Call Her Daddy attempted to get Trump to appear on the podcast as well but his campaign declined.

Harris interview has been viewed by over 900,000 people. But this pale in comparison to the 52million viewers who watched Trump's appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast.

Mr Rogan has previously revealed that there were talks for Harris to a appear on the show but the plans fell through because she refused to travel to his Austin studio and said the interview could only be an hour.

The Trump campaign spent a total of around $750 million in comparison, reports the Financial Times.

Some indications show that the race was much more expensive than that.

The Harris campaign, affiliated PACs and the Democratic National Committee amassed over $2.3 billion in political contributions.

Donald Trump's team, affiliated PACs and the Republican National Committee raised $1.8 billion. After raising nearly $4.2 billion, they spent a combined $3.5 billion on the presidential race, making it the most expensive contest ever held according to the FT analysis.

Despite spending less, Trump ended up trouncing Harris in the electoral and popular vote - which hasn't been done by the GOP in decades.
