Celebrities Wore Pure Garbage To The Golden Globes

The stars were out in full force Jan. 5 for the Golden Globe Awards, and many of them looked absolutely atrocious.

A room full of wealthy stars with unlimited access to haute couture should have refused entry to Ali Wong, Ariana Grande, Melissa McCarthy, and other stars that failed to meet the singular task they had that day – to look the part. The fashion fails were hard to miss. Some of the outfits looked like costumes better suited for the set, while others just fell so flat that it’s hard to imagine what they were thinking when they were preparing for the biggest night in Hollywood.

Lacing into Ali Wong’s outfit is just too easy. The actress and comedian wore a bizarre dress that was adorned with thick, ribbon-like pieces of tulle, and she looked like she had been attacked by a bird. Wong’s strange dress was the ultimate fail. It would be one thing if she just threw something on and made a bad choice, but, apparently, she tried really hard to look this terrible. Each individual piece of tulle had to be hand-curled with a curling iron before she hit the red carpet, making this an actual commitment to looking like she shredded a dress she found in a thrift shop.

Ariana Grande was getting a whole lot of air-time at the awards show, and should definitely think of consulting with a wardrobe professional before she makes another public appearance. She wore a Givenchy dress that was butter yellow in color, making her already pale skin look much worse. She looked faded in the dress, and matters were made worse with her strange cosmetics choices. Grande’s make-up was also very light and caked on, making it seem as though she threw something on and ran out of her hotel room without giving herself a glance. Her petite frame looked downright fragile.

Melissa McCarthy is funny as hell, but she didn’t have to dress funny. She opted for a custom Christian Siriano outfit that was a pant set with a really strange ruffled cape. The cape was so long that it reportedly took her 15 minutes to shove it all into her car. She presented with Awkwafina and kept whacking her in the face with the oversized ruffle piece. The stars that failed can take a page from Nicole Kidman — an actress that got it right that night, and gave me something good to talk about. The Golden Globes are an elegant affair, and Kidman definitely understood the assignment.
