An emerging Chinese car brand has unveiled its rapid-charging technology that can charge an electric vehicle in less than five minutes.
Geely Auto Group has unveiled its next-generation charging technology, which is powered by artificial intelligence to deliver ultra-rapid speeds while increasing safety.
Tests showed that Geely Smart Charging allowed a Lynk & Co 10 and a Zeekr 001 to charge from 10 per cent to 70 per cent in just four minutes and 30 seconds.
Real-world testing also resulted in speeds of eight minutes and 40 seconds to charge from 10 per cent to 97 per cent.
The artificial intelligence focuses on energy management to reduce heat, improve long-term battery health and deliver faster charging.
Geely developed the smart energy AI model, called Xingrui PowerMind, alongside StepFun, which is integral to Geely Smart Charging.
The technology was debuted alongside the fifth-generation Geely Smart Charging Station, providing charging power of up to 2.250 kW.
Similarly, the next-generation Ultra Short Blade Battery helps to cut heat during charging by 10 per cent, while increasing the peak charging rate.

It also makes use of an industry first, namely a five-point liquid cooling system that eliminates bottlenecks by managing heat through the entire charging chain.
The Chinese car brand has been expanding in the UK over the last 12 months, headlined by a successful launch, much like other manufacturers from China.
In less than a year, Geely has already sold 9,245 vehicles, capturing 0.67 per cent of the market share, and beating a number of established brands.
Between January and the end of August, Geely has outsold the likes of Alpine, Fiat, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Smart and Subaru.

Geely will be looking to challenge another Chinese car brand, BYD, with its ultra-rapid charging technology for electric vehicles.
BYD already has thousands of its Flash Chargers installed in China and has started expanding the service across Europe and even a handful in the UK.
The impressive Flash Charging technology is capable of charging an electric car from 10 per cent to 70 per cent in five minutes, and from 10 per cent to 97 per cent in nine minutes.
Even in extreme temperatures of -30C, the Flash Charger takes just 12 minutes to charge from 20 per cent to 97 per cent.
Flash Chargers are already being installed in the UK, with the goal of having 300 installed over the next 12 months.
These will be seen at Denza stores alongside the release of the Denza Z9GT, which is BYD's premium, technology-focused brand.
Denza and BYD owners whose vehicles are factory-fitted with Flash Charging will qualify for "exclusive preferential electricity rates that will be considerably lower" than competitors.
